Trail Running Retreat + Wilderness Adventure

Run. Explore. Learn. Connect.
Three days. Two mountain ranges. One small group.

Join Misfit Mountain Athletics in the beautiful mountains of eastern Tennessee for an unforgettable weekend of guided mountain running and one epic wilderness adventure! Please note that this retreat is suitable for intermediate to advanced runners who are comfortable on technical, mountainous terrain. The pace will be slow and relaxed with no runner left behind. Daily mileage will range from 5-10 miles (this is variable based on group abilities; more mileage is available each day.) There will be more than one guide so that every runner can find an effort level that feels comfortable for them.

At this retreat, you can expect to run Appalachian trails, learn to move confidently in the mountains, explore fueling and hydration options, and make new friends. You'll leave with a little more confidence than you arrived with. This budget-friendly retreat has it all!

Location

We will be using Jonesborough, TN as our home base for this retreat. This small mountain town in eastern Tennessee is actually the oldest town in the state and is noted for being the StoryTelling Capitol of the World. With the Appalachian trail and Roan highlands nearby, there's no shortage of beautiful mountain scenery. You will have hotel accommodations at night, and we will dine together in the evenings. All meals are provided!

What's included

1. Hotel accommodations (either a shared double room or a single, private room)
2. All meals and snacks
3. Transportation to and from trails
4. Guiding and personalized guidance on and off trail

(not included: transportation to and from retreat, any extra costs outside of the retreat time)

Who is this for?

If you are looking to gain confidence on mountain trails and you can run between 5-10 miles at a time, this retreat is for you! We will be moving at a relaxed pace. The goal is to gain knowledge on topics such as:

trail safety and etiquette
navigation and route planning
basic survival skills
fueling and hydration
recovery and moblity

Q + A

Can I request a hotel room without a roommate?

Yes! Just let me know at booking.

Can you accommodate nutrition restrictions?

Yes, again, just give me a heads up so we can ensure you are taken care of before the retreat begins.

What if I I'm worried that I can't keep up with the group?

No problem--that's why we will have multiple guides on hand to ensure that no one is left behind. All paces are welcome.

Will we do anything else besides run trails?

We will have opportunities for group yoga, mobility and more.

What should I pack for this retreat?

Spring can mean variable weather. You should plan on packing your trail running shoes, poles if you have them, a yoga mat and a variety of layers to wear out on trail. Rain gear is highly suggested as well! You are welcome to bring your own personal snacks or anything else you might find useful.
