Frozen Devil's Head
21.6 miles, out and back, from the gate at Highway 67 to Devil's Head and back down.
2,627 feet of climbing. 7,640 feet at the start, 9,662 feet at the turnaround. All of the climbing is on the way out. The turnaround is at the top of Devil's Head, just below the lookout.
Rampart Range Road is closed to vehicles from December 1 through spring. The race runs the closed road. Conditions will be packed snow, ice in the shade, and refrozen ruts, or dry dirt, or both, depending on the week.
AID
Start and finish, mile 5.4, the turnaround at 10.8, and mile 5.4(16.2 on the return) again on the way back at about 16.2. Hot fluids and shelter at the start, finish, and turnaround. Aid on course is supplied by either snowmobile or atv.
GEAR
There is a mandatory gear list and it can be checked at packet pickup, the start, and the turnaround. Traction will be decided race week based on road conditions and announced by email at least 48 hours out.

9:00 AM start. 4:00 PM cutoff. There is a cutoff at the turnaround as well.

PARKING
Public lot on the south side of Highway 67 at Rampart Range Road, before the gate. 1141 Rampart Range Rd, Sedalia. About 8 miles west of Sedalia and 26 miles from Denver. Carpool. No parking on the highway or the shoulder.
