About The Race
Welcome to the Hell Hole Half, a 13.1(ish)-mile out-and-back adventure on Hell Hole Road in the heart of the Francis Marion National Forest.
The course is simple: run 6.5(ish) miles down Hell Hole road, turn around, and get the heck back out.
You’ll spend the race cruising along a gravel forest road surrounded by towering trees, Lowcountry scenery, and the occasional thought of “Why did I sign up for this?”
You have 3 hours to finish, so whether you’re looking for a solid training run, chasing a half marathon finish, or just want to tell your friends you voluntarily ran through Hell Hole, we’ve got you covered.
This is the first and possibly the only time we'll be putting on this race and we're limiting it to 50 runners so don't think--just hit register. No complicated course. No fancy turns. No excuses.
Just 13.1(ish) miles of gravel, trees, and Hell Hole.
Can you make it out in 3 hours?
Come find out.

Course
The course is as simple as it gets. Run down Hell Hole Road, turn around, and come back. You won't see any course markings out there because there are zero turns. There will be water at the turnaround!

Aid Stations
This one is going to require some planning on your part! There will be water at the turn around and we'll be grilling up some hot dogs at the finish line and we'll have chips and soda there too. But---you'll need to carry any snacks with you that you may need during the race
Start Time & Cutoffs
The race will start at 8am sharp and the cutoff to cross the finish line will be 11am (3 hours).
Swag & Awards
In order to keep the price of this super low---we're digging into the vault and busting out some swag from past races! We'll have a table set up and you'll be able to pick whatever you want after you finish. Be the first to finish to have first pick!
Awards will be given to the top 2 male and females in each distance
Cancellation/Deferrals/Refunds/Bib Transfer Policies
The race will take place rain or shine. If for any reason the event has to be shut down due to extreme weather, natural disaster or zombies on the course (other than the runners…), you will be pulled from the course or held at an aid station until you can be removed from the course. Please, no arguing if this should happen. It is for your own safety
There are no refunds or deferrals. I know this is frustrating but we have to plan and budget for each race.
Ultrasignup now offers the option to add on insurance--please take advantage of that! It's super cheap and you get most of your money back if you need to pull out of the race for any reason.
If you would like to change your distance or transfer your bib you can do that here on ultrasignup no later than Tuesday the week of the race.. There will be no distance changes after that point
Pregnancy & Postpartum Deferral: We love our mother runners and we get it---family comes first! If you find out your pregnant and don't feel comfortable running the race anymore or your post partum return to running timeline means the race is no longer feasible for you, we offer a 1 year deferral so you can come back and crush it when you're ready! You also have the option of transferring your bib to another runner right here on ultrasignup.
