Bear Mountain Trail Race

Bear Mountain is a forest race in Mission, BC, about 15 minutes from Abbotsford. Expect tough climbs, fast and flowy downhills, and plenty of mossy, misty West Coast singletrack. Singletrack is a narrow trail wide enough for one runner. Heads or Trails runs the race as a fundraiser for Mission Search and Rescue and the Fraser Valley Mountain Bike Association.

Course Description

All three distances start and finish at Bear Mountain Park.

8K (330m / 1,082ft of gain): climbs to the top of Bear Mountain, then comes back to the finish on technical rolling trail. Technical means roots, rocks and uneven footing.

30K (1,540m / 5,052ft of gain): two laps of the 15K loop.

Mountain bikers, hikers and horseback riders also use these trails, so stay aware on the descents. Trail shoes are strongly recommended and poles are not allowed.

Aid Stations & Support

An aid station is a table on course where you can refill and grab food. The 15K has one at 7.5K and the 30K has two, at 7.5K and 22.5K. The 8K has no aid station listed. The stations stock drink mix, water, chips, pickles, watermelon, bananas, oranges, cookies, pretzels and candy.

The race is cupless, so carry your own cup or bottle. A medical crew is on site.
