2020 Race to be Postponed to Fall 2020
Due to the COVID-19 virus spreading across the country and based on the CDC and Washington State Department of Health guidelines for large events, this race has been cancelled for the original May 16th, 2020 date. We are currently working to postpone the race to the fall, but we are still in the stages of getting permission from both our site venues and all permitting agencies.
As soon as we have more information for the registered runners, we will send an email, hopefully by the end of the week (March 20th) with what cancellation options we have available for runners.
Course

Located on the eastern, and sunny side of the North Cascades - on the edge of the Chelan Sawtooth Wildereness, above the Methow River Valley - these courses offer great mountain trail running early in the year. You can expect fields of wildflowers, beautiful, snow-capped peaks of the Cascades in the distance, and stunning single-track. In partnership with Methow Trails and Sun Mountain Lodge, we are happy to offer a well supported and scenic race.
The 50K is a loop course and takes place on Saturday May 16th, 2020. The 25K will take place on Sunday, May 17th. We will also offer a Kids 1K on Sunday morning before the 25K.
The start and finish area is at the Patterson Lake Cabins, about 15 minutes from Winthrop, WA. Runners will finish right on the lawn in front of the lake which will be perfect for cooling yourself off when you complete your race! As with any Rainshadow race, there will be plenty of wood-fired pizza, craft beer, and live bluegrass music to soothe those tired muscles!
Lottery and Registration
Due to how quickly the race sells out, registration for this race is a lottery. All runners interested in participating in the race will need to register on Ultrasignup between September 1st and 7th, 2019. Once the lottery is closed, we will draw names and announce the entrants list no later than September 10th. No credit cards will be charged until the lottery closes and names are drawn. If your name is not drawn, there is no charge to your credit card.
GROUP REGISTRATION
We offer a group option for runners who want to ensure everyone in their party gets into the race together. Everyone interested in being part of a group registration will register via Ultrasignup and will select the GROUP option. You will type in the group name your party has selected. That group will get ONE ticket for the lottery. If the group name is drawn, everyone registered under that group name will get into the race. If that group name is not drawn, NO ONE registered under that group name will get into the race. This option was created for those who might be traveling from far away and would not want to run the race if their friend/family member did not get in.
Post Race Festivities
We do not offer finisher medals at any of our races, but instead choose to spend that money on providing a one-of-a-kind post race celebration. Runners, volunteers, and their friends/family get all the wood-fired pizza, local craft beer, snacks and other non alcoholic drinks they want and we always bring in a band to provide free live music at the finish line! We strive to create a sense of community where people want to hang out, cheer on their fellow runners, and share trail stories. Our finish line will be just as festive when the last runners cross the finish line as when the winners come through.
Cancellation
Runners can cancel their registration and receive a percentage of their entry fee back as a credit towards a future Rainshadow race. Runners also have the option to transfer their bib to another runner. All bib transfers must be completed by both parties on Ultra Signup at least 7 days PRIOR to race day.
