Hello Super Runners!
Altis Mike ran the Stanky Creek course and did some trail work on Monday.
The course is in great shape! May everyone run well and have fun at Stanky
Creek on Sunday! Race info:
Race Web Page: http://altisendurance.com/events/stanky-creek-50kmarathon25khalf-marathon
Race Start/Finish: Stanky Creek (Nesbit Park) is located at 5760 Yale Road
Bartlett, TN. Please note that the start/finish is on Yale Road on the
south side of the park. If your GPS unit sends you to a street that is not
Yale Road (which is a four lane divided road) then you are in the wrong
place and probably on the north side of the park on a two lane road in a
subdivision. Directions to Stanky Creek are on the race web page.
Saturday Night Packet Pickup: Saturday night packet pickup is from
5:00-6:30PM at Stanky Creek. Runners can also register for the race at
packet pickup on Saturday night and on race morning.
Race Morning Packet Pickup: Runners can also pick up their race packet
Sunday morning starting at 6:15 at the race start/finish. Race day
registration is allowed.
50K/Marathon Start Time: 7:00AM
25K/Half Marathon Start Time: 7:30AM
Parking: The park parking lot will fill, but there is plenty of street
parking. Runners can legally park between the bike lane and the curb on
Yale Road - except where there are diagonal lines painted on the road
between the curb and bike lane.
Miscellaneous: The best place for spectators to watch the race is at the
start/finish. There will be port-o-lets at the race start/finish which
runners also pass each loop of the race. Runners can leave a bag/key/shirt
at the start/finish if desired. Please be respectful of any other trail
users. The usual trail and ultra food will be provided at the aid stations
to include cookies, chips, candies, water, ice, and gatorade. Presently
there are 109 entrants in the race. More will enter. To view the 50K
entrants list click on http://ultrasignup.com/entrants_event.aspx?did=55289. To then view the
other distance entrant lists click on Marathon, 25K, or Half Marathon from
that web page. Time limit is nine hours. A slightly above average
temperature day is forecast for Sunday; race start 70 degrees, high temp 90
degrees. The course will be well marked. The race supports Youth Villages
and Goodwill. You can have your fellow runner/friend/spouse pick up your
packet and shirt if you desire.
See you soon! Mike

Race Info
Lots of runners having fun on the super trail at Nesbit Park is what this race is all about! All race entrants run a counterclockwise loop of some of the outstanding Stanky Creek single-track trail. The course is well marked and easy to follow. The only difference in the course loop for the 50K/25K runners and the Marathon/Half Marathon runners is that the 50K/25K runners run the blue trail loop while the marathoners and half marathoners don't.
Race web page: https://altisendurance.com/events/stanky-creek-25k
This is a trail race – two counterclockwise loops of superb single track trail to complete the 25k and four counterclockwise loops to complete the 50K. The trail is almost completely shaded with many twists and turns. There are few rocks on the trail, but there are plenty of roots on the very run-able trail. The race starts at the west side of the parking lot. Runners head east through the parking lot for about 400 feet before entering the trail to follow the well marked course. The finish line is on the east side of the parking lot. The course will be well marked with arrow signs and flour markings.
