Course Description

Near the northern edges of the Mt. Baker wilderness lays one of Washington’s most stunning and spectacular ridge trails. Beginning from a pair of mountain lakes, the High Divide trail climbs to the summit of Excelsior Peak then turns east rolling with the ridgeline and serving up persistent views of Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan. This early fall course doles out inexhaustible amounts of wild blueberries and frequent 360* panoramas of the North Cascades.

Itinerary

Aspire is committed to providing exceptional service and support to ensure an unforgettable running experience. The following schedule is a tentative outline for making travel arrangements. 8:00am---Convene, Bellingham WA. I-5 Exit 255. Meet in the SE corner of the Sunset Shopping Square, 1275 E Sunset Dr, Bellingham, WA 98226. Look for the green Suburban with “Aspire Adventure Running” decals. 8:30. Departure for the course. 10:30. Drop runners at Damfino Lakes trail head. Estimated travel time for the course 2-4 hours. 12:30-2:30. Food, Drink, Relaxation 3:30. Depart for Bellingham. 5:00. Estimated arrival time in Bellingham.

Gear

Running Gear Each runner should come equipped with a personal running pack/vest, hydration system, water filtration, and personal snacks. Aspire has a selection of bars, gels, electrolytes etc. available, but we also encourage folks to bring foods that they are accustomed to for long runs. Running clothing should consist of layering system including a wind/waterproof jacket and an insulative layer. Drop Bag A bag of post-run clothing is essential. This bag should include an insulative jacket preferably down or synthetic, a wind/water resistant outer layer, dry clothing, and dry shoes.

Aspire Adventure Running

Aspire courses are non-competitive runs that embrace the challenge and adventure of traveling in wild and scenic terrain. Our events are limited a maximum size of 12, in accordance with wilderness land use designations, however each runner travels the course at their desired pace. Course fees include: transportation from I-5, the safety net of a trail guide, and a post run celebratory meal.
