Charity Sponsorship - Hero Runner

The 16th Annual Sanders Saunter Race, presented by the Lawrence Trail Hawks.
Falling Forward Foundation is our 2024 CHARITY PARTNER.

Falling Forward is the only nonprofit in America that funds life-changing rehabilitation after insurance benefits run out, making it possible for people to recover from catastrophic injuries and to resume happy, productive lives.
To maximize our contributions to Falling Forward, we’re excited to introduce the Hero Runner program. It's always been challenging to find the right balance between supporting our charity and keeping registration fees affordable, so this year we’re empowering our runners to get directly involved in fundraising.

A Hero Runner commits to raising at least $750 in donations for Falling Forward. In return, you’ll receive support and rewards for your efforts and contributions.

Hero Runners will receive:

  • FREE race registration
  • A pair of ON shoes
  • Race shirt
  • Limited edition Hero Runner jacket
  • One-of-a-kind Hero Runner mug handcrafted by Matty Mullins
  • VIP race day parking

The race starts and finishes at Shelter 1, Corp of Engineer. All runners will run west on the white trail before turning south on yellow. Runners will ascend and descend the ridge of Sanders Mound and then run north on yellow. All runners will then access the white trail and continue on the white trail.

10K RUNNERS – you will access the Lake Henry Aid Station and return back on the blue trail. You will run the mound again and then finish at Shelter 1 / Start Finish.

25K/50K runners will continue on the white trail to the first connector trail past MILE MARKER 9 (9.19 on the Clinton Lake Map). The runners will access/ run down the connector trail to the blue trail (mile 5.59) and continue back on the blue trail to the finish line.

50K RUNNERS – TWO LOOPS OF THE 25K COURSE = A TRIP TO THE MOUND AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH LOOP. There is an 11:30 am cutoff for 50k runners to start their second lap.

25k/50k runners are required to carry a handheld or hydration pack. Drop Bags are available at Lands End and Start/Finish Aid Station.

Distance Change

Runners may contact the Race Director and transfer to a lower or a higher distance on or before Oct 29. In the event a runner transfers to a higher distance, a pro rata charge will apply. No credit or refund can be given for runners transferring to a lower distance race. You can also make an "event change" on ultrasignup and change the distance yourself; in the event you upgrade the distance it will generate a code and prompt you to re-register for the new distance.

We DO NOT allow runners to transfer entries to other participants. NO Transfer Permitted: Race numbers and official participant bibs are assigned by the Race Director to each specific participant and may not be transferred, reproduced, replicated, or modified under any circumstance. You may not: 1) give or sell your number or tag to another person; 2) receive or purchase a number or tag from another person; 3) modify, make copies or other reproductions/replications of your number or bib for any purpose (or allow another to do so); and/or 4) participate with an unofficial race number or bib (i.e., a number or bib that was not assigned to you by the Race Director).
Attempting to do any of the foregoing is also prohibited and any person found violating these rules will be subject to penalties, including but not limited to disqualification and suspension from subsequent Sanders Saunter events.

50K runners who drop to the 25K race will receive a 25K finisher award, if available. However, they are not eligible for 25K, 1st, 2nd or 3rd place awards.

This is our annual Charity Race. Each year our Charity Partner is unique therefore we DO NOT allow race refunds, deferrals or transfers.

If you can’t attend, and haven’t deferred, please let the Race Director know at least seven days before the race, so your name can be removed from the starters list. You also have the option to remove yourself from the race on Ultrasignup. If you don’t show up, and don’t let us know in advance that you can’t make it, you’ll be recorded as DNS in the race results.
