About the event

Team ASAP invites you to come suffer the Lake Area's only ultra marathon. Nestled in the heart of Southwest Louisiana, Sam Houston Jones State Park consists mostly of single track, root rich dirt trails. This race is perfect for the newbies and it is sure to challenge even the most seasoned runners.

The adventure is scheduled to take place Saturday, October 21, 2017. We will begin with a mandatory pre-race meeting at the main pavillion at 7:45 and the race will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m.
< For those not wanting to "duck walk" a few days, we do have a 25k option and we even have a 10k option for the laziest of you out there. The trails will be open to the public so beware of cyclist, other runners and bird watchers. Earphones are allowed, just be courteous to those who are faster than you and get out of their way. We will have 2 unmanned aid stations consisting of water and electrolyte drink and 2 fully equipped aid stations. Food will be served at the main pavillion/start,finish line after the race, so stick around and enjoy the company. Families, your cheer squads, etc. are encouraged to hang out and grub as well. Awards will be given as runners finish. The race will take place rain or shine ( unless there's lightning).

The course

The 50k will be four loops and the 25k will be 2 loops.

One loop is as follows: Starting from the pavillion head east on the park road, turn right onto the entrance of the orange trail, follow the orange trail until it meets the park road again. Turn left on the park road for about 100 feet then turn right onto the entrance of the red trail. Follow the red trail until it meets up with the park road, then turn right, running along the park road back to the entrance of the park where you will see the purple trail on the left. Follow the purple trail until it intersects with the blue trail. Take the HIGH SIDE of the blue trail until it meets the fire lane. Cross the fire lane and enter the blue trail and follow for approximately three miles until it intersects with the yellow trail. Turn right on the yellow trail and follow to the trail head. At the trail head stay on the road turning right, pass the boat launch, heading back to the pavillion.

That's one loop!
