Big Butts Cap
Get in while you can everyone! In years past, MUTS has not had to place a cap on the number of participants at Big Butts. However, this year we had to put the cap at 100 on the number of runners due to the restrictions of local and state guidelines. So please register early because we are approaching our limit. Should we reach our cap the best we can do is put you to work at an aid station :)
**June 15, 2020 Update - Relay Teams
Thank you all for signing up for Big Butts 2020!! Because of your interest we have reached capacity for the number of relay teams. While team members can join existing teams, we can't accommodate any new teams at this time. Please join us in the 50k or 100k if you missed out :)
**June 12, 2020 Update
Great News!! Not that we were worried but Big Butts is officially on. We are now removing the waitlist from the registration page so please get in while you can. We will be taking all necessary steps to make this as exciting and fun an event as past years while still adhering to current health advice. So please stay tuned for upcoming information on race plans and minor changes to this years event. See you on July 18th!!
**May 28, 2020 Update
Yes, we are actively planning and working on hosting Big Butts 2020. Governor Tate Reeves has officially lifted the "Safer at Home" order so its time to race! As of now we still have registration set at "Waitlist" which means you will not be immediately charged upon registering. We anticipate removing this at the beginning of June once we are confident group events will most assuredly be allowed into July. So be sure you are training so that we can see you on July 18. Butts Park is in fine shape and the weather is warming up just as planned :)
**April 27, 2020 Update
As of this date we are still optimistic that Big Butts will take place on July 18th. However, based on continued changes and available information we may be modifying the race cap, race instructions, entry requirements, and other such factors as needed. In other words, whatever we need to do to make this race happen with the least amount of heartache and most amount of safety for you and the volunteers we will do so.
Packet pick-up will only be Saturday, July 18 from 5:30 a.m. until race start. There will be a flagged off area near the start/finish pavilion containing all runners packets organized by last name. Please get your packet as you arrive on race morning – a volunteer will be there to assist.

2020 BIG BUTTS, presented by MUTS (MS Ultra and Trail Society), is a trail race with an individual 100k and 50k, and a 2-4 person 100k relay. The start is at the Mississippi College cross country Choctaw Trails pavilion with 7.75 mile loops on both the cross country trails and Butts Park single track trails. There is plenty of room around the start to set up your own aid, tents, coolers, chairs, etc. The course itself is not technical and has a few small hills, but the MS heat and humidity of late July make this race a BIG challenge. Only a few people over the years have completed the 100K.
