2017 Event Cancelled
Dear Paatuwaqatsi runners and friends,
It is with heartfelt apologies that the Paatuwaquatsi Committee will have to postpone this year's "Water is Life" run event. Last year we were forced to move the run to another location of the reservation, the Hopi Veteran's Memorial Center. It appears this location has been double booked with another event on the day of the Paatuwaqatsi Run and will conflict with the safety of the runners. We will return with the spirit of the original Ultrarun, the 10 mile and fun run in 2018. This run is a significant event that we encourage your support and participation in 2018. The work to raise awareness for the sacredness of water and the preservation of our ancient trails will continue with Bucky Preston, Paatuwaqatsi Founder, as this is essential to our Hopi way of life.
We will refund this year's registration to all of you that have preregistered through Ultrasignup. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Sadly, we send this communication to you but we are already planning for next year's event.
Bucky would also like to personally thank all of the volunteers that have helped over the years and to runners who have participated for many years. We look forward to seeing you again at next year's event. The Paatuwaqatsi Committee
The Paatuwaqatsi Run is a special public event open to anyone who is interested in running for the cause of water and life. The run will take place in the heart of Hopi country and will pass over ancient trails used by the Hopi people for over a 1000 years.
The Paatuwaqatsi Run was founded by the well-known and accomplished Hopi runner, Bucky Preston, who has literally run thousands of miles in the quest to preserve and protect his people's water.
Free camping the night before, free pasta dinner the night before the event, native feast after the race.
