The Ute 100 Mile Trail Race
POINT TO POINT
The Ute 100 is the HIGHEST and most scenic race in Utah. The course tops out on Manns Peak at 12,272 ft and has an average elevation over 9,000 ft. 18,700 ft gain and same loss. The course is not meant to be beautiful. 80 miles + of single track.
The course is run entirely in the La Sal Mountains, Utah's second highest mountain range, just a 30 minute drive from downtown Moab.
You will run through about 30 miles of alpine meadows, 30 miles of aspen groves, 30 miles of high desert over looking red rock canyons and 10 miles high up in and out of scree.
You can see the San Juan mountains in Colorado from most of the course. You'll see the sunrise over the San Juans and the sun set over Canyonlands and Arches national parks.
The stars will be on full display as you'll be at high altitude with close to zero light pollution at night.
This mountain range is home to several creatures that you might see... Elk, mountain goats, deer, turkey, owls, eagles, hawks and many more. You'll likely see more wildlife than humans.
Bring the family to Moab and experience all it has to offer. Drop them off at the parks while you come to the mountains and run what we call "The most scenic 100 miler in North America."
About the race
This race course is designed by Sean Run Bum Blanton aka the Rd for Georgia Death Race and all the sell out Run Bum races.
Here's what he has to say:
I look at course design like my art. I can't stop drawing. The Ute 100 is far from where I live most of the year but it's where I have come to paint my Sistine chapel, The Ute 100. If you don't know me or my races then let me tell you this. We've been planning this race out for 2 years now, I've even had 2 people go do the course as a trail race to work out kinks, which they did. I over flag courses, over stock aid stations and don't have any fancy gimmics to get you to run our race. I don't call this the Moab 100 to get you to Moab only to find the race isn't really in Moab. This is a beautiful course and not a couple of nice views but literally the entire thing. We have designed the course to flow perfectly. You have 10 aid stations and 4 points for crew/ safety runner access. While everyone is chasing the hardest race possible, we took out a lot of elevation gain in this because that's not the point. The point is to be beautiful. We sell all our races on the east coast out in minutes for a reason. Because I design courses I want to run, we have great volunteers, we have a ton of fun mid and post race, and ultimately these are grassroots events. I don't have big finishline Arches. I have myself and a time clock waiting for you with a huge hug or high five. People also have been bugging me about why not a 50k or a 50 miler?
Well I think that would water this event down. I also see a lot of races that have 4 distances that have lots of confusion and they are chasing mileage etc. we actually had to take mileage out because there's so much to see. How long is the actual course? Who knows! As I always tell people, "You're done with my race when you're done seeing and experiencing what I want you to. I don't chase mileage just views and experiences."
I'm Sean Run Bum Blanton and next August I'd like to invite you down to Moab to run, crew, pace and or volunteer to what I think is one of the greatest races / courses in the world.
Refunds / getting picked in other lotteries
We do not do any refunds transfers or deferments. However... you can sign up for the Ute 100 and if you get selected into one of the other 100 mile races that has a lottery then we will allow you to defer the entry to the Ute only until the following year. Why? We realize that many people want to do hardrock, leadville, western states etc.
We need volunteers. If you volunteer for a full shift you get free entry to THIS RACE OR another race of ours less than 100 miles and not Gdr. WE LOVE OUR VOLS!
Local time: 6:20 AM
not to mention you get free food at the finish and likely some swag
