About the Race
Get ready for a weekend of trail running and camaraderie in the scenic woods of Johns Island County Park! Just outside of Charleston, South Carolina, this adventure invites you to test your limits on a wide-open, cross-country style loop trail, designed to be both beginner-friendly and a true trail challenge. Runners will circle a 2-3 mile loop (still working on the exact course) as many times as they want within their chosen time—6, 12, 24, or 34 hours.
And it’s not just a race—it’s a whole weekend experience! Your registration includes all the essentials for an unforgettable adventure: race entry, swag, food, drinks, snacks, and even primitive camping (additional charge for RV camping that can be added on during registration) for the weekend. Settle in for days filled with miles, laughter, and endless encouragement from friends, old and new.
With a bath house on site and a supportive atmosphere, Hallucination is perfect for both weekend warriors looking for a memorable retreat and serious runners chasing new mileage goals. Join us for a weekend of epic runs, cozy camps, and great company.
Hourly races are a great way to check out the world of trail running because there is no minimum distance that you need to run. It’s also great way to tackle a new distance without tight race cut offs. We want to hand out some buckles this weekend!
24 and 34 hour runners will start Friday evening at 8pm
6 and 12 hour runners will start Saturday morning at 8am
Youth Runners: email kayla@palmettoultras.com for a 15% discount code good for our runners who are 14 years old or younger only! We want the whole family to come out and enjoy the race!
Check out the updated Runners Guide for more details (working on updating this for 2025. Location will now be Johns Island County Park and we've added a 34 hour option but most other details will stay the same!):

Aid Station
There is one aid station located at the start finish line and it will be fully stocked with usual race day snacks like gummy candy, chips, pretzels, water, PBJ, sodas, coffee, Skratch Hydration Mix, and more! Whatever you will require during the 2-3 mile loop you must carry with you. We will be cooking up food all weekend: Friday overnight, Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Late Night on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday before you hit the road and head back to reality after an awesome weekend in the woods. Menu TBD so stay tuned. Dinner is on your own Friday night
We are a cupless race so please bring a cup/bottles/bladder/etc... There will be no cups at the aid station except for hot beverages
Night Running
For those who are participating in the 12/24/34 hour events you are required to wear a headlamp/waist light when it gets dark. Race Director will inform you when you need to have your light on. Please bring spare batteries, back up lights, charging packs---if you don't have a light you're not running. We want you to have fun but also be safe.
Course Overview
We're still working on the exact course but very likely we'll be running the yellow loop which is around 2.5 miles of beautiful, shaded, cross country like trails. These are the smoothest trails in the park and although there are still roots, it's the more "vanilla" trail in the park which will make it easy to rack up the miles and get some new PRs!
The course will pass by the start/finish line and tent area after each loop making it easy to access your stuff, your crew, and the bathrooms
Swag & Awards
Everyone who registers will get a hoodie with our NEW amazing logo on it (please select your size at checkout)
Finisher awards will be issued to everyone who completes the time (6/12/24/34hr) that you registered for. There is no minimum amount of miles you need to run to get your finisher award. This year finishers will receive an handmade wooden medal from Hickory Handcrafted who has done a lot of our awards and finisher items!
Awards will be presented to the top 3 male/female finishers for 6/12/24/34 hour
For those that complete 100 miles, you will be awarded a buckle with our new race logo(check it out in the pictures!)
Camping/Lodging/Canopies
We are really excited to be able to host this event at Johns Island County Park because they are set up for camping and have a bathhouse on site! We don’t want this to be a “come run your race and leave” sort of event and we’ll have everything you need to stay and enjoy the weekend!
Here’s what we have for you:
Camping: Every runner has primitive camping (with access to the bathhouse) included in their registration. That’s right—it’s included so you may as well come on out and make a weekend of it! You can set up your tent/canopy/car right along the course.
RV: If you plan on bringing your RV and want access to electricity and water you will need to add that on at checkout. There are 24 spots available
Runners can also set up a 10x10 canopy to use as their own personal aid station throughout the race. You'll go by your tent/canopy after each loop!

Packet Pickup + Pre Race Fun
Stay tuned! We will definitely have packet pick up the evening/morning of the race
Cancellation & Refund Policy/ Distance Changes/Bib Transfers
Cancellation/Refund/Bib Transfer Policy: This race will take place rain or shine. There are no refunds. I know this sucks but we plan and budget for each race. In the event that you are unable to run the race you are able to transfer your bib to someone else via ultrasignup.
If you decide to change your duration you can do so via ultrasignup or on the day of the race before you cross the start line. Once you cross the start line there will be no changes made to your registration.
Pregnancy & Postpartum Deferral: We love our mother runners and we get it---family comes first! If you find out your pregnant and don't feel comfortable running the race anymore or your post partum return to running timeline means the race is no longer feasible for you, we offer a 1 year deferral so you can come back and crush it when you're ready! You also have the option of transferring your bib to another runner right here on ultrasignup.
Volunteers
With our volunteer program you can earn free/discounted race entries by helping your fellow runners. If you finish your distance you could stick around and help out after. See the volunteer tab to sign up and I'll be in touch as the race gets closer. You can volunteer for as many hours as you'd like.
This race will require more volunteers than any of our other races. Any help you can give to provide support at an aid station is greatly appreciated!
6 hours volunteer time= 50% discount on any race entry
12 hours volunteer time = 100% discount on any race entry
These hours can be accumulated over several races
