THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED

For those about to rock...WE SALUTE YOU!

Welcome to the Elk County Boulder Dash’s, “The Boulder Dash Half”, Trail Challenge: the greatest trail event ever. At least we think so.

Boulder Dash Half is a “long” Half coming in around a 13’ish…maybe 14’ish…mile run/walk/hike through State Game Lands 44, just south of Ridgway, Pennsylvania. For your hard-core trail runners, there is 2700+ feet of vertical rise over the course. For the rest of you, that means that a lot of it is straight up hill and straight back down. If you still can’t envision it, trust us: It’s ridiculous.

The event is divided into sections called loops. Each loop is identified by the name of the Rock or of the Location nearest to which you are traveling.

• Grandfather Rocks Loop
• Miles Rocks Loop
• Devil’s Den Loop
• Rattlesnake Hill Loop
• Umbrella Rocks Loop
• Finisher Loop

Grandfather Rocks Loop:
The starting loop takes you out of town and into State Game Lands. In just over 1 mile, participants will come upon the spectacular Grandfather Rocks formation. The maximum grade during this trek is 37.9%.

Miles Rocks Loop:
This next loop connects from Grandfather Rocks. Here you will have a spectacular view of Miles Rocks. Between these 2 loops you will travel a distance of 5.1 miles with an elevation gain of 793 feet. The maximum grade during Miles Rocks loop will be 29.6%.

Devil's Den Loop:
This loop begins at the entrance to the Elks Camp road, and will have you stopping at the first aid station BEFORE you make the climb. Be sure to fuel up as this climb is monstrous. Climbing to the top of Devil’s Den, this loop has participants traveling a distance of 2.4 miles with an elevation gain of 775 feet. The view from the top provides a beautiful, panoramic view of the state game lands (get out those cameras!). The maximum grade is 39.4%.

Rattlesnake Hill Loop:
This loop is short, but it will have your legs screaming. Starting at the second aid station (and you'll need more fuel by this point), this loop has a steep descent, and then right back up the infamous Rattlesnake Hill traveling a distance of 1.2 miles with an elevation gain of 450 feet. The maximum grade is 26.2%.

Umbrella Rocks Loop:
This loop leads deep into the forest and travels a distance of 3 miles with an elevation gain of 466 feet, and a maximum grade of 24.8%. This loop will have participants experiencing the AWESOME Umbrella Rock formation (again, you'll want a pic of this stellar rock!). The end of this loop heads into the final loop.

Finish Loop:
The last loop takes participants out of the forest, and travels a distance of 2.38 miles with an elevation gain of 235 feet. This loop has a maximum grade of 20.5%. On the way out of the forest, the downhill trails have some serious roots, moss, and small rocks. With "heavy legs" at this point you will need extra caution to avoid a face plant!

The total elevation gain for this run is a stellar 2700+ feet, with a maximum slope of 39.4%.
*Please note these numbers are all approximate based off of GPS finding of our runs on the trail

With your registration, you will receive: entry into the race, shirt, finisher’s award, BBQ chicken dinner (vegan options available), Straub Beer sampling, fruit and water. There will also be access to public showers if you should need to “freshen up”. The race starts/finishes in the historic downtown of Ridgway, PA, and there are a TON of awesome local shops and sites for your friends and family while you’re out on the course being AWESOME!

(PS: Due to PA Game commission regulations, absolutely NO spectators allowed on the course during the event. They will get fined if caught!)

(NOTE: No refunds, deferments, or bib transfers will be allowed. Thank you for your understanding).
