This Event Took Place Sat. Mar 9, 2019

This is the 10th Annual Salsa Walk.

The Salsa Walk is a walk only event.

The general idea is that the group starts and finishes together. If you need to run ahead to make a bathroom break at an unscheduled stop, then go for it. Or if you need to run a bit to catch the group, then yea do it. However, it is considered in bad taste if you run and wait, run and wait. This is not a running event, and no one can "win". Everyone will start at the Chuy's in Selma TX at 0900 on Feb 29th 2020 and we will walk to the Chuy's in Austin on Barton Springs road and then turn around and walk back to Selma. The 50K stops at the Chuy's in San Marcos, Texas. Each 50K segment will take about 12 hrs to complete. But after 100K into the 150K and 200K distance, we will slow down.

We will have breaks about every 3 to 4 hours as necessary, for water, food, rest etc... Each stop will be between 15 to 30 min depending.

What to bring? A small pack with 50oz water should be fine. Also, light jacket, light gloves, and rain poncho. Money, ID, and phone of course. You don't need to weigh yourself down with foodstuffs etc... You can purchase along the way.

Everyone who starts gets a Certificate with the distance they completed, but must complete the whole of either the 50K, 100K, 150K, or 200K. All finishers will receive a patch to commemorate their finish.

At the 5th Annual we started with 17 participants and at only the halfway point, 5 were left. If you think this is simple, then you will be in for a big shock. So prepare your mind and body.

As the organizer, I will not be coordinating pick ups, or any of that stuff. How you get here, and how you get home is your problem to solve. :)

The rules are below:

All participants must start and finish together.
You may only walk.
Running is not allowed. (except as noted above)
Sticks are allowed.
Headphones and music are allowed, but you’ll miss out on all the great stories.
You are responsible for your own transportation if you decide to retire from the walk.
There will be approximately five scheduled stops for food and water resupply, per 100K.
Reflective vest, blinkie, and headlamp are highly suggested.
Event organizers will not provide any support. Bring your own money for food and water.
No umbrellas may be used.

We are serious about the umbrellas. Absolutely no umbrellas.

Local time: 12:44 PM
