The Tick is a point to point 50 mile single track trail race with 7.41 bonus miles (*) thrown in for good measure that follows the Florida National Scenic Trail from Alexander Springs State Park to the far end of the Rodman Reservoir Dam. * (bonus miles are not optional)
There isn’t sufficient water supplies along the route to run this event unaided but there are ample places to meet your mandatory crew along the way. The longest distance between stops is around 10.5 miles
update:
I will repeat that, crews are mandatory . As with most point to points events, runners will have to provide their own transpiration back to their cars. A means of communication for all runners and or crew will be required for the safety of the runners during this event.
This wilderness event will take you into the heart of the Ocala National Forest passing along many diverse ecosystems, running past lakes, prairies and marshes as well as through tall growth pine and hardwood forests. It’s not uncommon to see Deer, Bobcats, Bears, Hawks, Eagles, Scrub Jays and other animals along the route (other animals include squirrels turtles rabbits and mice just to name a few)(oh saw a few snakes too).
Event's current local time: 9:02 AM ET
