Description and Details
The 5th running of the Trail Mix-up series will be held on Sunday, August 19 at Forest Park, Queens starting at 8:00 AM. The 50K event will be added to the New York Ultra Running (NYUR) Grand Prix Series for 2018. The Race Director asks that you enter on this page through Ultra Signup (with no added fee). The event will be two races in one: an 18 mile (approx. 30-kilometer) and a 50-kilometer, but NOT separate. There only will be one start, and if you do go on to 50K, you still will be recorded with an official time and place for the 18 mile. You DO NOT have to declare what distance (30K or 50K) you are running.
Local time: 11:47 AM
The check-in area will be near the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Park Lane South, with the Start & Finish Staging area a short distance up a park road.
The race loop is an approx. 3.35-mile loop on a variety of paved & trail terrain. Paved surface is about 1.1 miles mainly on asphalt park drives. The trail sector is about 2.2 miles in scenic woodsy surroundings. The trail is very runnable but will still include rocks, boulders, wood chips, roots, wood steps and leaves. But it cannot be considered "technical"... however it is still challenging. The overall race loop is rolling with a 300-yard significant climb. The 18 mile course will be 5½, and the 50K course will be 9½ loops.
All pre-entries (received by August 12th) will receive a decorative race shirt designed by David Luljak & Barbara Christen. Finisher awards will be presented for either the 30K or 50K.
A full Information Sheet can be downloaded on the NYUR Site. If you register on-line on Ultra Signup select the 50K race, but you can change your mind when you finish the 1st 5½ loops.
Please assist with race planning by entering as soon as you can. Thanks.
