Course
Course map & elevation profiles available HERE
All distances will feature a rolling single-loop on paved and dirt/gravel roads. Please refer to the course map for all details.
Challenging in true Vermont tradition, with approximately 1400' of gain in the Half'witch, 3050' of gain in the Full'witch, and 3550' of gain in the Ultra'witch! The course is not, repeat, NOT certified! Being hilly, you can also expect to run between 30-45 minutes slower than your average flat marathon time making a BQ pretty unlikely for many if not most. The Half'witch time limit of 6-hours and gentle downhill final portion of the course are a great combination for walkers, even with all those 1,400 feet of hills thrown in! You'll feel like Superman or Wonder Woman at the finish line!
The course is NOT closed to all traffic! There will be "RUNNERS ON ROAD" signs and very selective closures or traffic modification, but it's a good idea to wear something hi-vis if your costume isn't already lesser-known Superhero "Reflective Safety Vest Man.'"
We strongly discourage headphones, but if you will be running with music we ask that you use only one ear and listen at a volume that allows you to hear cars, other runners, and instructions form Race Officials. You will find staggered starts to minimize bunching on the road and give everyone an opportunity to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. You can expect local traffic only, which you will find is eeeerily, ghostly, hauntingly quiet on a Sunday afternoon. Still, be careful! We're all out here to have fun, be safe and look super fly! No dogs, strollers, or motorized/wheeled costume elements, please.
Aid stations
Runners and Zombie-walkers will find DEAD and UNDEAD aid stations along the course every 3-5 miles. At the DEAD aid stations, you're on your own. We think you can handle it, don't worry! At UNDEAD aid stations, our crack team will take care of you. If you're nice, they'll even let know how far back the monster is that's chasing you! Expect HOT CIDER at select aid stations, along with water, Hammer Heed electrolyte beverages, Hammer gels, fruit, and plenty of candy at all others! Getting hangry after your run? You can find bagels, sandwiches, baked goods and snacks at the finish. Grab a hot coco or some soup and some spooky pastries for the warming tent! Notice the race was a little short on UNDEAD aid stations in 2018? We've got you covered for '19! More hands = less time spent on course self service trick-or-treating!

Sign-up before October 1st and you're guaranteed your choice of shirt size PLUS your name in big shiny letters on your custom Nor'Witch race bib!!!
Cutoffs
3 PM cutoff for the 13.1, 4 PM cutoff for the 26.2, 5 PM cutoff for the 50k. This gives the Half'witch a very walker-friendly time limit of 6 hours, 7 hours for the Full'witch and 8 for the Ultra. This makes the Ultra'witch a very do-able first 50k -- plenty of time to stop and take some photos!!!
Awards
All finishers will receive a cool custom witchy finishers medal (that moves!) Awesome, useful, handmade-in-Vermont creepy awards for top 3 guys and ghouls at each distance! The winners at each distance will take home beautiful 12'' slate cheese servers with smaller copies going to the other spots on the podium. PLUS, Spirit of the Witch and Best Costume will be named! The cheese servers look so good, you risk the unknowable horror of having to choose between using them... or displaying them....!!!! OooOOo. Some people even... DO BOTH!!! : o
