South Mountain Half Marathon

Wheadon Farm Park

Draper, UT 1/2 Marathon, 10K, 5K

This Event Took Place Sat. Apr 27, 2019

We have started a waitlist so it will not charge your card when you sign up. We did this due to the uncertainty all races face this year with the pandemic. This way if we do cancel a race your card will not be charged. If we do not cancel the race you will receive an invite to the race at which point your card will be charged if you accept. All races will have a final verdict at least 1 month in advance!

COVID-19 UPDATE 5/27 - Going to be a bit long winded here but want to give an update on the races. With each race we will wait until just over a month out in hopes city officials realize how important these events are to the community and start allowing them to happen. We believe a little sweat and sunshine is good for the body, mind, and soul!

We have submitted plans that comply with CDC guidelines to do our best at keeping runners safe. If you have friends and family who are on the fence about signing up I would get them to do so now because we may have to limit these events to 50 or less runners. Runners signing up will be placed in a waitlist and credit cards will not be charged unless the race is confirmed.

We will lose money doing it with this amount of runners but we have already put in the time to organize and plan these races. When we started Happy Trails Running last year making money was never our goal. We wanted to create a series of races that focused on beautiful trails and an experience runners would enjoy and keep coming back to. We also want to focus on supporting local small businesses as well as the organizations that help maintain these amazing trails. If you have the time, go check out our website sponsors page. These businesses need you now more than ever!

With the above said we have decided we will offer refunds or credits to all runners should we be forced to cancel a race. By doing this we hope that you will continue to support our races knowing Happy Trails Running puts runners first. The best way for us to grow is word of mouth and repeat runners!

We hope to see you sooner than later, happy trails!

Why Should I sign up for this race?

Beautiful course, free breakfast, good company, race photos, custom locally made finisher medal and awards, friendly competition, performance t-shirt, and swag. What more could you want? Really if you can think of something let us know and we will try to get it!

South Mountain includes all of the paved trails runners have come to love in Draper. Namely the Porter Rockwell Trail and Canal Trail. Every distance will enjoy these trails. The half marathon also includes the best parts of Draper City itself. The trails are absolutely beautiful at the end of April when Spring is at its strongest!

Please check out the website for all the info you will need. Ask us if you have any questions, Happy Trails!

The 5k starts at Wheadon Farm, a massive and stunning park. You climb a hill to the Canal Trail which you follow until making a right to cut through a neighborhood. This detour leads you to the Porter Rockwell Trail which follow until making another right turn. After this turn it is a downhill run to the finish!
