Trail of Four Winds | The Course
Trail of Four Winds 25K travels through Lake of the Ozarks State Park. Runners experience several views of Lake of the Ozarks, rock outcrops, overlooks, seasonal streams, ponds, and woodlands. This will be a fun and fast track for many, but with all the obstacles one expects while running in the Ozarks–roots, loose rocks, slick surfaces, creek crossings, and steep grades of 10 percent or more. The trail fluctuates between single track, double track and wider–with 1600 plus feet of elevation gain spread throughout. The race starts/finishes at public beach #1 at Lake of the Ozarks State Park–a great location for our post-race party. We sold-out in 2019, our inaugural year. Enjoy the amenities of Lake of the Ozarks State Park, and the excitement of Lake of the Ozarks!

Lake of the Ozarks Trail Series is committed to giving back to the outdoor community. Each year, we pick one organization we believe will enhance our outdoor experience and donate a portion of our revenue to that cause.
We're proud to announce this year's recipient is Ozark Trail Association! Check out the great work they do supporting Missouri's flagship trail, https://ozarktrail.com.

Trail of Four Winds 25K scheduled for September 5, 2020 has been cancelled due to the spike in COVID-19 cases around the country. There will be a virtual option this year or a 50% credit rollover for 2021. I will give you those details in just a moment.
This was an extremely difficult decision to make. I was hopeful COVID-19 cases would be waning instead of the spike we currently see. In fact, when I made the decision to postpone the race from May 2, 2020 to September 5, 2020, I did so with the intention of doing everything I possibly could to make this race happen for you this year. In retrospect, I probably should have cancelled the race back in March, so we wouldn’t have to live through this disappointment for a second time in the same calendar year. Unfortunately, it won’t be possible to issue a full refund. The planning, preparation and expenses of putting on a trail race happen throughout the year. In other words, many bills have already been paid. I hope you understand, and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with questions.
As mentioned, COVID-19 cases are spiking around the country, some states are feeling it more than others. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated their website earlier this month with information on the risk of spreading COVID-19 at events and gatherings. Their ranking system starts at “lowest risk.” Then it moves to “more risk,” “higher risk,” and ends at “highest risk.” Under highest risk the CDC says, “Large in-person gatherings where it is difficult for individuals to remain spaced at least 6 feet apart and attendees travel from outside the local area.”
Trail of Four Winds 25K falls under the “highest risk” category. We have runners registered from 10 states. My top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our community, runners, volunteers, advertisers and everyone associated with Trail of Four Winds 25K. If the COVID-19 numbers were waning, I probably would have moved forward with the race. Under our current climate, I certainly don’t want to contribute to the spread of COVID-19. I understand your disappointment. Once again, if you have any questions, please reach out to me. I will promptly respond to every email.
All registered runners need to edit their registration. To do this, log in to your UltraSignup page and go to your “registration history.” On a laptop, registration history is in the dropdown menu under “account info.” Once there, look for Trail of Four Winds 25K and click on “edit.” There you will find a new question to answer. You will decide between running the race next year on May 1, 2021 and receive a 50% credit transfer or the option of running the race virtually this year. Your deadline for making this decision is August 5, 2020. If you run the race virtuality, you will be required to run a 25K sometime during the week of August 30, 2020. The last day you can run is September 5, 2020. A Garmin or Strava file of your run is required. All virtual finishers will receive a Trail of Four Winds 25K race shirt and finisher’s award. If you registered as a guest, use this link to update your registration, https://ultrasignup.com/confirm_resend.aspx
On a personal note, I’ve had two races cancelled this year due to COVID-19. I understand this disappointment not only from a race director’s perspective, but a runner’s perspective.
In 2019, we had an absolute blast at the inaugural Trail of Four Winds 25K. We were ready to capture that magic again this year. Instead, we’re dealing with the “new normal.” Like you, I'm looking forward to racing again. Until then, keep exploring the trails.
Please, as mentioned, reach out to me with any questions. Thank you for your understanding and support. I truly appreciate it.
Trail of Four Winds 25K does not issue refunds due to cancellation or postponement. Thank you.
