UPDATE on the BIKE Leg!!

The BIKE section this year will be on the multiuse trails ONLY, due to muddy trail conditions. I will be marking and measuring the course Wednesday, but it I know it will be multi loop and a combination of paved and dirt trails within the park. Rolling hills will make it challenging, but it will be fast.

A Duathlon in Williamsburg, VA!

Please join us on Saturday, January 2 in beautiful Freedom Park! Race starts at 9am. Race includes a Run/Bike/Run format. The first Run is 5 miles of single track trail running, followed by a 10 mile bike section (revised to dirt and paved fire roads due to rain) and finishing with a 2.5 trail run. The trail elevation is not excessive, but there are constant switchbacks, roots and tight turns.
Here is a video from 2019:

Trail Map and info

Trail map is here:
The 5 mile run section will use the A loop, 2.5 mile section will use the B loop. The bike will use the multiuse trails this year due to rain. They are a mix of dirt and pavement. The transition area will be in the field adjacent to the Botanical Garden on the map.
The start finish will be next to the interpretive center. There will be be a mile of multiuse trail before entering the narrow single track to spread out the field. If the link above does not work, please copy and paste in your browser.

The elevation in the park is only 200-300 feet per trail, but there are frequent roots and twists and turns. There are not many sections to get up speed, but the trails are beautiful and well maintained.

There will be water stops with some food and first aid at the 2 mile and 4 mile of the 5 mile section. There are 2 water stops in the bike section and 1 in the 2.5 mile section of the run.

The transition area will also have food, drink and first aid supplies.

Local time: 10:10 AM
