100 mile and 100k route
Starting in the village at Northstar you will climb up ski runs and single track to the summit of Mount Pluto then drop down West Ridge to Boondocks trail then up the TNT, back down Washoe to Lookout Lodge. The climb up Lookout Mtn is 1700 feet in 1.1 miles! but that's only half of it. Dropping down the backside and finally up to Pluto again, 1800 feet in 1.25 miles: 6000 feet of vertical gain in the first 11 miles. Descend 2000 feet down to the Western States Trail until you reach the Tahoe Rim Trail. The TRT is a long rolling climb up Mount Watson around Lake Watson, across Hwy 267 at Brockway and continue up to Mount Baldy turn around at over 9000 feet. You will want a photo here. Go back on the TRT to Mt Watson Rd then Sawmill Flat Rd back into the village start/finish. Do it again for the 100 mile, for the 100k continue to Mt Pluto 2 times and then descend to the village finish. Incredible views, lung busting climbs and nearly 25000 feet of vertical gain for the 100 and 12,500 for the 50. 36 hour 100mi cutoff - 18 hour cutoff at the 50mi mark
Single loop UTLT50K is now approved on the WS Trail and TRT! You will follow the 100mi route for 27 miles then turn left on NFR16n74 takes you back into Northstar. There will be around 9000 feet of vertical gain.
The 25K route will follow the 50k route for 12 miles and after summiting Mt Pluto for the 2nd time you will descend back down to the finish! Approximate vert is 5000 feet!
All entrants in the 100 mile event are required to do 8 hours of trail work by Sept 24 2020. Volunteering at an event is not the same.
