Bay TrailRunners are Back on the Trails

Our first race back will Celebrate the Life of Bay Trailrunners founder Robert Rhodes. Over the years Rob ran many miles of trails to bring small and fun races to the greater Bay Area. I was Honored when Rob asked me to carry on BTR and continue the legacy he created with Victor (Ballesteros). We will start back at one of my favorites, Whiskey Hill Redwoods. Please join us and bring all your stories of Rob and lets spend the day remembering our good friend.

We will be racing and sharing the course with Pacific Coast Trail Runs for a full weekend of trail adventures. Pacific Coast Trail Races will be racing Saturday Nov 6th with 4 different distances 10k, 17, 35, and 50k and Bay Trailrunners on Sunday Nov 7th with 3 distances 10k 1/2 marathon and 50k. If you run a race each day there will be special swag and medals. Who will do a 50lk one day and the half marathon the next, or a 10k each day?

Trails In Motion

Rob and his love for trail film/video eventually produced the Dirtbagger Film Syndicate, which became the first international representative for the Trails in Motion Film Tour when it was awarded the distribution rights for Northern California. Each year, Rob screened a new selection of films in various venues throughout California and elsewhere. His screenings grew from just one in 2014 to ten in 2019 and have included such stages as the Western States Memorial Day Weekend Training, Miwok, North Face Endurance Challenge, Hardrock, Broken Arrow Skyrace, Lake Sonoma 50, and American Trails Running Association Trail Conference. Victor and Jena Ballesteros of Victory Sportdesign have been honored to continue his legacy as they continue the presentation of running film stoke to the Tribe Rob loved most!

Refunds, Transfers, Race Credit Policies

Below is our standard policy for Bay Trailrunners / Trail Squirrel Adventures LLC.
Refunds & Transfers
Entry fees associated with Bay Trailrunners (Trail Squirrel Adventures) events are non-refundable and non-transferable, nor do we offer deferrals to future races. Contracts, permit fees, awards, shirts, and all things associated with your event are planned and paid for long before your race day. We also do not transfer entries from runner to runner for various reasons. If a runner is found to be running under someone else's registered name, the bib will be pulled and the runner will not get credit for the race, or race swag.
Race Cancellation Credits
For 75% race credit towards another Bay Trailrunners (Trail Squirrel Adventures) event, you must notify us in writing 30 days before your event at info@baytrailrunners.net. For 50% race credit, you must notify Bay Trailrunners (Trail Squirrel Adventures) 14 days before your event. For 25% race credit, you must notify Bay Trailrunners (Trail Squirrel Adventures) prior to 72 hours remaining before your event. Your race credits will be valid for one year from the time you earned them. Fees from registration sites are not refunded or credited. Not showing up to the event will result in no credits.
Once again, registered runners can participate, and you may not exchange your entry with another individual.
Races will not be canceled due to rain or heat. Course trail work, closures, reroutes or construction may lead permitting agencies to require changes to the printed courses at any time prior to an event. This is out of the control of any race director, and we therefore will not offer refunds or credits in such a situation. If a race location is changed due to park closures, we will automatically transfer the registration over to the new venue; or entrants may choose to cancel their entry (non-refundable and non-transferable). Races cancelled due to inclement weather, fire or unsafe AQI will be rescheduled, or credited 50% towards a future race. Cancellation will only happen in the best interest and safety of the runners, staff and volunteers.
Event Swag
While every effort is made to insure that advertised swag is provided, we do reserve the right to change swag due to shipping and vendor fulfillment and supply chain inconsistencies.

Our Founder Robert Rhodes

If trail running is the ruling passion in Rob's life, it is best expressed in the company he created, BayTrailrunners. He built this group from scratch, starting with just a few like-minded runners to staging races attended by hundreds of runners. Along the way, he controlled all aspects of the races he created. He built and managed the BayTrailrunners website and created newsletters and mailing lists to promote the runs along with print, social media content, and videos.

Rob and his media side hustle, the Dirtbagger Film Syndicate, also became the first international representative of the Trails in Motion Film Tour when it was awarded the film distributorship rights for Northern California. Each year now, Rob screens a new selection of films in various venues in California and elsewhere. His screenings have grown from just one in 2014 to ten in 2019 and have included such stages as the Western States Memorial Day Weekend Training, Miwok, North Face Endurance Challenge, Hardrock, Broken Arrow Skyrace, Lake Sonoma 50, and American Trails Running Association Trail Conference.
