Run solo any time starting at 7pm Saturday, April 25 until 7am Sunday, April 26. Just like Twilight 12 Hour, run as much or as little as you like in that given time frame! If you are interested in winning a stay at Flying Horseshoe Ranch's Log Cabin, want free beer, and a free entry into a 2021 Walla Trails & Community, submit your route and photo via Strava by 9pm April 27th. Winners will be announced later that week and will receive an email on how to claim their prizes. Registration costs $5, proceeds will go to Flying Horseshoe Ranch.
Most miles - In true Twilight 12 Hour fashion, there will be a king AND queen of miles. Whoever runs the most amount of miles SAFELY (see rules below) will win a night (or two depending on the season!) at Flying Horseshoe Ranch's Log Cabin, a gift card to Mule & Elk Brewery, and a free entry into a Walla Trails & Community event in 2021. Total prize worth up to $650
Photo contest - Not a fan of running at night or solo or either? Submit your favorite photo with your Strava route! You are still eligible for the same prize - a night (or two depending on the season!) at Flying Horseshoe Ranch's Log Cabin, a gift card to Mule & Elk Brewery, a free entry into a Walla Trails & Community event in 2021. Total prize worth $650.
Most creative route - We suspect that options of where to run SAFELY will be limited so creativity needs to be recognized. Most creative route gets the same prize - a night (or two depending on the season!) at Flying Horseshoe Ranch's Log Cabin, a gift card to Mule & Elk Brewery, a free entry into a Walla Trails & Community event in 2021. Total prize worth $650.
About Flying Horseshoe Ranch
I started going to Flying Horseshoe Ranch when I was a camp counselor for the YMCA of Greater Seattle back in 2008 and then took over the YMCA's horse camp in 2013. I watched countless kids and staff fall in love with this ranch every summer. I was thrilled when owner Penny Blackburn agreed to let me hold a night run in 2016 - now Twilight 12 Hour. This ranch has touched the lives of so many people over the years through camps, weddings, family reunions, 4-H groups, and so many more. The cost to run a guest ranch of this quality is mind-boggling. Join me in helping offset some of those costs in these difficult times!
PLEASE BE SMART ABOUT YOUR ROUTE - I know planning a safe solo route at dusk/night/dawn could be tricky given the current circumstances. It is also based on people's comfort level. Twilight 12 Hour was created for people to practice night running in a safe and fun environment. This feels like the opposite of that so here are a few ideas that count (and would get some serious props for doing): Neighborhood loops, hill repeats (OOF), running on trails not closed to public, etc.
Local time: 11:46 PM
Solo Running Only - If you run with your spouse, kids, or roommate, that's fine but only one submission per family. Running partners/buddies do not count unless the social distancing rules have changed by the end of April.
One Route/Submission Per Person
Pick Your Favorite Photo to Submit - One photo per person. Caption or story behind the photo is welcome!
