Run Your Race on ZOOM

The Official Date of the Virtual SAM Run is Saturday, May 9th. For those starting Saturday, we will send out a link to Zoom at about 6:30 AM. Log into Zoom and start your run at 7:00 AM Live on ZOOM. Log back in as you finish so we can see if you look like you actually run the distance. (If you don't appear appropriately "wiped out" we may disqualify you!) Just Kidding. If you are running in a small area (like your backyard or on a treadmill) stay logged into Zoom your entire run. We can check up on you!

The Virtual SAM Race (Virtual Smile-A-Mile Race)

Like the Run for Kids, the Virtual SAM Race is a fundraiser from Camp Smile-A-Mile, Alabama's camp for Kids with cancer. We started our first race, Run for Kids Challenge in 2011 specifically to raise money for Camp SAM. Now, in 2020 it appears likely we will have to cancel the Run for Kids. Proceeds from the Virtual SAM Race will help offset the funds that would have gone to Smile-A-Mile from the RFK.

100% of the Registration Fee from the Virtual SAM goes to Smile-A-Mile. We accept no director's fee to put on this race and being a virtual race we have no associated expenses. Shirts and finisher medals are optional and priced separately. Shipping is included in the price of the shirts and medals.

Race Registration is $20 for all Distances

Register for the 10K, 50K or 12 Hour - $20 With no shirt or finisher award.
Register for the 10K, 50K or 12 Hour - $50 With race shirt and finisher award - Includes shipping.

Run on May 8th, 9th or 10th

The Official Date of the Virtual SAM Run is Saturday, May 9th. If you can't run on the 9th you are welcome to run on Friday, May 8th or Sunday, May 10th. If you can start Saturday, we ask that you log into Zoom to record your start and finish.

Online registration closes on the 8th at 11:59 PM. Record your run with GPS and send a photo of GPS course map. Also, take selfies or have a friend take pictures while you run. Smile! They will be posted on the Southeastern Trail Runs FB page.
Here are the rules:
1) Send us the GPS file showing your run.
2) Send photos of your run, selfies, whatever. Smile, they will be posted on the Southeastern Trail Runs FB page.
3) You run must be continuous. (If you are doing the 50K, you can't run 15.5 Miles Friday and 15.5 miles Saturday with a break for a good nights sleep in the middle.)
4) Run anywhere, roads, trails, track, your yard, a treadmill, etc.
5) You may run on May 8th, May 9 or May 10th.
That's it.
By the way, if you run on a treadmill, you'll have to figure out how to send up verification that you actually ran the required distance.

Refunds

Southeastern Trail Runs always give full credit for future races or full refunds up to 30 days before the event. We are almost within 30 days of the race so PLEASE don't register unless you are sure you can run. Also, since the shirts and finisher medals are printed to order we cannot refund the fee or give credit for shirts and medals. They will be sent out even if you withdraw from the race. If you do register and something comes up where you cannot run on the designated dates, let us know. You are welcome to run earlier or later as long as you send the GPS file when you run.
