Spring Trails in Oregon's Tillamook Forest!
Welcome to the Tillamook Burn, Daybreak Racing's oldest event, featuring three beautiful and challenging trail races of 50 miles, 50K and 20 miles, plus a 3-day 100 mile stage race option for those who dare to run all three races. 'The Burn' has become a festive springtime trail running tradition, staged at historic Reehers Camp in the lush and rugged Tillamook State Forest, halfway between Portland and the Oregon Coast. Prepare for rumbling waterfalls, brisk stream crossings and a million shades of green, as brilliant spring foliage, fiddleheads and blossoms line every inch of the course.
20 Miler - Friday, May 5th
The 20 Miler is a super fun, tough out-and-back course, run entirely on the renowned Gales Creek Trail. The route takes runners from historic Reehers Camp to Gales Creek Campground and back, involving 20.8 miles, 3800 ft. of ascent and 3800 ft. of descent. There are 3 aid stations along the course.
50 Miler - Saturday, May 6th
The Tillamook Burn 50 miler is back and now a point-to-point route! This springtime gem features a forested, mountainous course on some of the highest quality singletrack trails found anywhere. In all, the course features 9000’ of climbing and 8400’ of descent on 40 miles of single track and 10 miles of rugged forest roads. There are 7 aid stations along the course and a 14 hour overall time limit.
50K - Sunday, May 7th
The Tillamook Burn 50K is a beautifully tough, heavily forested out-and-back course, run almost entirely on singletrack trail. The route traverses the Oregon Coast Range mountain divide from Reehers Camp to University Falls and back, involving 31.8 miles, 7000 ft. of ascent and 7000 ft. of descent. There are 5 full aid stations along the course and a generous 9 hour time limit.
3-Day 100 Mile Stage Race
Runners can choose this ultimate 100 mile challenge by running all three races during event weekend-- the 20 Miler on Friday, 50 Miler on Saturday and the 50K on Sunday. Brutal and epic!
The mountainous, temperate Tillamook Rainforest in Northwestern Oregon is steeped in history, most notably, the legendary “Tillamook Burn” forest fires that consumed 355,000 acres of colossal old growth forest from 1933-1951. One of the largest tree replanting campaigns in human history led to the formation of the Tillamook State Forest in 1974. Today, a lush second-growth forest thrives here, offering dozens of miles of exceptional single-track trails for us to enjoy, while showcasing hundreds of massive, emblematic “grey ghost” snags and charred stumps-- enduring relics of the vast old growth rainforest that reigned here prior to the Tillamook Burn.
