Miles for Maria Crazy 8's 8 hr / 4 hr NIGHT RUN fpr Epilepsy

Brown Industrial Pkwy

Canton, GA 8hrs, 8Hrs Virtual, 4Hrs Virtual, 4hrs

This Event Took Place Sat. Aug 8, 2020

OVERVIEW

Miles for Maria was created for our daughter who was diagnosed with Epilepsy when she was 3 years old. We watch her fight and know she is the strongest person we know, so we wanted to recognize that with a series of distance runs lovingly called "Miles for Maria"

VENUE / DISTANCES / COURSE / FUN!

This is a NEW, NIGHT RACE for Miles for Maria! There is an 8 hour (Crazy) and a 4 hour (only half crazy) start time! We will stay on the paved trails at beautiful Etowah River Park! The pathway is wide and VERY FLAT. The loop will be just over 1K, but as the park is finishing construction, we may be able to stretch the distance to a nice round .8 miles!

There will be fun lights, etc. on the course and we will be playing music to keep you going!

4 Hour runners can start at 8pm or midnight (an email will go out before the race to give you the option of choosing). 8 Hour starts at 8pm.

SWAG and AWARDS

All finishers will receive a Miles for Maria embroidered hat and water bottle, among other fun things!

Awards will be given to the overall male/female in each distance.

AMENITIES

Due to COVID-19 restrictions we will have a limited aid station on hand. As we get closer, we will know what we can and cannot serve. Plan on bringing your own hydration/aid needs to be safe.

There are indoor restrooms adjacent the parking lot, near the start. (no portojohns!)

There is plenty of parking and space to spread out in the fields adjacent the start. Please use proper social distancing.

PACERS

Pacers or any people not registered for the event will not be allowed on the course at any time. Please be sure to follow this as we are doing our part to maintain social distancing, and limiting the amount of people on the course will help with this.

COVID-19 GUIDELINES

We will follow guidelines as outlined by the CDC. There will be no race day registration at all. All participants must have a signed, electronic waiver on hand or you cannot participate. There will be sanitizer in many areas available for use. Restrooms are available for proper hand washing. We will temperature check you upon arrival. MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED until the start. We will space out the start to spread the runners out. We highly recommend carrying a mask/buff with you when running so you can use it when you are getting passed or passing someone. When passing, please give as wide a berth as possible.

If you are showing any COVID-19 related symptoms as outlined by the CDC, please stay home and rest.

CAPACITY

We are only opening it up to 50 runners, so please sign up soon - we are hoping to sell it out quickly!

VIRTUAL OPTIONS!

Not ready to run in-person but want to join the fun? We have an 8 hour and 4 hour virtual option! Run anytime between 8/5 and 8/9. Send us proof of time/distance (Strava, Mapmyrun, Garmin, etc.) and we will send you your swag! The virtual options will be their own separate race categories, eligible for awards!
