Brasstown Bald Buster 5k / Ruck
Georgia's HIGHEST 5k! Can you make it to the top?! Come see if you have what it takes to run 1700 ft gain in 3.1 miles on this scenic point to point road course to the top of Georgia's highest mountain - Brasstown Bald! This iconic race has been happening now for over 30 years!
Runners and walkers of all shapes and sizes are welcome at this race! With a bit of preparation, we know you CAN make it to the top!
The official course record is held by Adam Pinkston, who now lives in Asheville, with a lightning fast time of 24:40. This was set in the 1990s and he ran a 14 minute track 5k the weeks leading into this race. Wow! Though some have come close, his record has stood for over 30 years... WILL IT EVER BE BROKEN? *2022 Note the ultrasignup ranks listed reflect a modified course during a closure, and is not the record route. The record still stands! Come and try your luck!
Race Day Schedule:
Packet pickup will be at the upper parking lot from 6:30 am - 7:00 am
-THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MOUNTAIN OR ALONG ANY ROADS PER OUR USFS PERMIT
-Runners will park up top and can walk down or take shuttle down to start the race.
-Mandatory pre race briefing is at the start line at the bottom at 7:30 am.
-NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION!

Back by popular demand - a RUCK DIVISION!
-Men you must carry 25 lbs
There’s no special sign up, but we will have prizes for top 3 men and women overall for the regular race AND the ruck. 1700 ft in 3 miles with a lot of weight on your back - you have 2.5 hours to do it. You can hike up in that time! Please train!

To get a shirt you must be registered by April 1st. If you are not registered by this time, you can still sign up, but you will likely not get a shirt, as we order in advance. Thanks for understanding!

We encourage participants to make a day of it, and explore the beautiful North Georgia mountains! Even if you're not running the 5k, Brasstown Bald has a beautiful paved path that is less than a mile long and will allow you to walk up and experience the incredible views. The race is located near miles of trails in scenic Union, Towns, Rabun, and White Counties. Nearby town of Helen & Vogel State Park favorite stops for many.
