Great Bend in the Hooch 5 & 12 Miler
Southern Singletrack Trail Series is thrilled to announce the inaugural Great Bend in the Hooch Trail Run –12 Miler / 5 Miler. The race will be held on Saturday, July 17 2021 at 8AM EST to benefit the Chattahoochee River Conservancy. We are very proud to hold the FIRST foot race at this Park and we appreciate the Park Staff for all of their support while we worked through the logistics and created this awesome race!
Local time: 7:47 AM
The 12-mile race, is a loop starting at the boat ramp on the west side of the park headed eastbound along the rolling hills of the Wild Turkey trail up to Trailhead 1 and then down the Access Road to the west end of the flat and fast Riverside Trail. The 5-mile race heads eastbound, on the rolling hills of the Wild Turkey Trail, up to Trailhead 2, back down to the Tower Trail which cuts over to the Riverside Trail near the Observation Tower. Finally back to the finish line!
Both options of this race promise an epic mix of rolling, non-technical yet super-fast singletrack trails along the Wild Turkey Trail and ending in flat and fast Riverside Trails. If you stop or slow down long enough you will enjoy tons of wildlife, lots of low-lying waterways, and many natural trails along the race course. So, come on out to the one of the newest State Parks in Georgia and enjoy some of the most runnable undiscovered singletrack in the west Georgia area.
The course: 12 Miles or 5 Miles

Each runner will receive a race shirt and finisher award as well as loads of trail cred!
ALL runners for both races will start in staggered heats by bib number – no exceptions! We now have electronic chipped timing and you will be clocked by this system so staggered heats are not an issue.
There will be 2 aid stations on course (one at Trailhead 2 and the Bend Road/Riverside Trail intersection). Each station will have bottled water, Cerasport and all snack items will be individually wrapped (i.e. pretzels, chips, fruit chews, and/or snack-size candy). If you are running the 12 miler, we encourage you to bring any other additional hydration, nourishment, etc. you need to get you through 2 or more hours of running.
BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE! It will be Summertime in Georgia and the weather could be either extremely hot so we require you to carry hydration. We will have only bottled water and bottled Cerasport on course. If you look dehydrated on course, we will pull you. Please don’t be that person and not bring a water bottle!

There are Self Pay Boxes throughout the park – one specifically at the entrance to the Park for you to purchase your day pass before you drive down to the race Start area.
