We are making every effort to offer a heavily modified version of this years Patapsco Valley 50k. Among the modifications, will be a greatly reduced field size and a virtual option. At this time, you can register to run virtual or get one of the limited number of in-person spots. The description that follows is not meant to be an exhaustive description of the each version of the race, but a general overview to help you make your registration decision.
Virtual: Runners will have from October 23th-October 30th to run 50k on their own chosen course. Anywhere, anytime. Runners will submit their results to the race directors upon completion. Your shirt, finishers mug, and other swag will be mailed to you at no additional cost. Virtual runners will receive all of the same goodies as everyone else, with the convenience of being able to run on their own terms.
In-Person (*This was from 2020, but expect some version of this in 2021): The in-person event will feature a staggered start beginning at 6am. We will start runners in small groups in regular intervals. The field will be seeded based on UltraSignup rank. There will be limited contactless aid stations, strict protocol for before, during, and after the race for sanitary and hygiene reasons. Masks, buffs, or other face coverings will be required at the start, aid-stations, and finish. No awards ceremony or post-race gathering.
Runners who select "in-person" can change to virtual at any time. Virtual runners who wish to change to "in-person" MAY be able to, depending on the field size. Any changes MUST be mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
Additional details will be sent out in the weeks leading up to the race.
