Event Description

Nestled quietly in the rolling wooded hills just 20 mins west on Interstate 44 of Greater St. Louis lies the wonders of the Beaumont Scout Reservation. Here we invite you to partake in a first-hand experience of these “rolling” hills where, until 2019 the general public had not been allowed to crush the tough and beautiful trail systems within.

This is STL’s Original 100-mile trail ultra!! The Shippey will rotate directions each year going CW odd years & CCW even years. You be the judge which way is easier by running both ways!

The Shippey Endurance Runs so rightly named based on the trail color system used by the Scouts, after Merle Shippey a well-respected cog in the scouting community. The Shippey takes you through all aspects of this magnificent wonder by creating an extremely runner, crew and aide friendly race.

How does setting up camp indoors 100 yds from the Start-Finish line and the ease of seeing your runner or your crew every 3-5.8 miles sound? Save the gas money as there is no need to chase runners over miles of back roads. The Shippey is minutes from amenities, allowing runners and their crews the ease of re-supply and convenience nearby!!

Come prepared for cold temps but also know that it could be 70 degrees. Weather in St. Louis can flip on a dime!

Course Details

The course is set up as 20mi loop(run 1x for 20mi, 3x for 100k and 5x 100mi), the full 20mi loop is done in 5 legs ranging from 3.2-5.3 miles. Less than 1 mile of pavement over course of 100mi.

There will be 2 aid stations on the course which you will venture too multiple times. Each leg varies from the others offering steep climbs, ridgeline running, long and short steep descents as well as creek bottoms, pine floor, and jeep roads with approx. 75% single/double track, 25% jeep roads.

Every 20mi loop is approx. 2,800' ascent,40mi approx. 5,500', 100k approx. 8,500' & 100mi approx. 14,000'

Packet Pickup / Pre Race Meal & Meeting

Friday January 13th 5pm-8pm, ALL EVENTS.
Relay teams only need one member to pickup the teams packet
Saturday January 14th 7:00am to 9:30am packet pickup.
Saturday January 14th(40mi only) 7p-7:45p
Sunday January 15th 6:30am-7:45am (20mi and 20mile relay)

Pre-race meal begins Friday January 13th at 6pm with Pre-Race Meeting begins at 6:30pm!
Meal included for all 100mi and 100k solo runners with registration. Extra tickets can be added at registration for crew/family and all other distances can also purchase tickets at checkout as well

Start Times & Cutoffs / Drops Bags / Pacers

All distances cutoff at 4:00pm Sunday January 15th.
Mileage/aid station specific cutoffs will be a part of runner packets prior to race

Drop bags allowed at both Aid Stations for solo 100mi,100k, and 20 mile runners.
Drop bags should not exceed typical 14gallon totes 18"Lx12"Wx12"H

Pacers are allowed anytime after 40mi(2 loops) for solo 100mi/100k i

100 mile / 100k / 20 mile relays

The most affordable relay event around with the best swag and awards. Shoot...we even let you eat from our aid stations. You seriously will not find a more accommodating or fun trail relay! Think Ragnar style at a 1/3rd of the cost with less restrictions and more fun!! 100 mile/100k/20 mile options with all using teams of 5. The 20 mile loop consists of 5 different legs to complete.
Every runner must run AT LEAST 1 leg depending on the teams distance. Example, the 20 mile teams will all run 1 leg to complete the 20 mile relay race. But for the 100 mile or the 100k, the teams can choose how to tackle all of the legs that make up their full distance in any order they would like so long as every runner AT LEAST runs 1 of the legs. Relay races will be chip timed via an ankle bracelet which must be worn outside of clothing and exchanged at each trade off of runners. Each Team is responsible for the timing chip and is required for accurate timing

Relay races are fun runs with no awards other than bragging rights...come ready to send it to crushtown but more importantly to have a blast and cheer everyone else on! We believe our relay teams should take on the role of cheer squads or hype women and men for those 100 mile and 100k crushers on course!

Awards / Swag / Partnerships

SWAG GUARANTEE CUTOFF is 11/19.
All relay 20 & 40 mile participants will be going home with a 3/4 sleeve shirt and 100k/100 mile runners will be going home with a lightweight sweat shirt. Both items are custom made by our friends over at Territory Run Co.

Lodging and Amenities

On site camping will be allowed on the reservation with the hub being the Emerson Center indoors. Set up your tent or sleeping bags and air mattress in the open room indoors with a view out over the Start/Finish line. Open fires will not be permitted within the Scout ranch. There are Vault toilets located around the central race premise as well as periodically along parts of the route. Showers and bathrooms will be available on site as well in the Emerson Center.
Campers are allowed, however there are no hookups for water/electric

Eureka, Fenton, and Valley Park are both within 10 mins of start featuring a plethora of dining options from fast food to bar or fine dining
Pending availability please contact us if you are attending as a part of a larger group and on site bunk houses may be available for renting.

Refunds/Drops/Transfers

No refunds once registration has been received due to injury, illness or other reason.
At this time we are not offering deferrals either. Runners may drop to lower distance up until January 6th, 2023, however refund on differences will not be given.
Runners can also transfer bibs to another runner if you are unable to attend up until January 6th, 2023.
