Autumn Leaves 50M/50K/30K

8239 Champoeg Road

St. Paul, OR 50 Miler, 50 Km

This Event Took Place Sat. Oct 30, 2021

ANNOUNCEMENTS

This classic and fast ultra returns from the grave in 2025! Come join us as we celebrate!

Course Description

The course is a 10k loop consisting of 80% paved bike path and 20% dirt single track. It is built for speed as the course is very flat with some small rollers for fun. 50K runners will complete 5 loops and the 50-milers will do 8 loops. Despite the trail section, the whole course is typically runnable in road shoes. You will need a headlamp for your first lap, as it WILL be dark.
Working up to running ultra distances? New in 2025, sign up for the 30k, and run 3 loops with a later start time. Kids can join us for a free Kids Run (pre-registration required).

Pacers and Crew

All runners participating in the 50k race are allowed to have a pacer for the last 2 loops, and all runners participating in the 50 mile race are allowed to have a pacer for the last 3 loops. Pacers must sign a waiver and wear a pacer bib, and are welcome to use the aid stations. They may not mule (carry supplies) for their runner.

Support crew access is at the start/finish, and at the mid-course aid station near Oak Grove.

  • Men, Women, Nonbinary
  • Masters Men, Women, Nonbinary
  • Finish place will be determined by Finish Time, not Chip Time. First over the line gets the award.
  • If a runner has not triggered the timing mat at the turn-around, verification of course completion via GPS may be needed; otherwise, the runner will be marked DNF and ineligible for finish awards.

A "Spirit of Autumn Leaves" prize will be awarded for the finisher displaying the best spirit, most often awarded to the runner wearing the best costume, or costumes (with changes made each lap during the race) in each event. Other qualifying activities may be considered at the discretion of the RDs, and may include dancing, singing or recitation of spooky verses?

    ORRC Members and Volunteers

Oregon Road Runners Club members receive $15 off the registration fee. Because UltraSignUp is not our membership platform, please email the race directors for membership verification and a coupon code prior to registration: AutumnLeaves@OregonRoadRunnersClub.org

If you have an ORRC volunteer voucher, likewise please email the race directors with the code so we may enter this individually prior to registration. Thank you!

    Fees and Amenities

To keep your race fees low, the State Park entrance fee is NOT included in registration. If you have an Oregon State Parks pass, please bring it, or you may purchase a day pass at the entrance gate kiosk. Many racers enjoy staying at the park on Friday and/or Saturday night. Check availability at Reserve America: https://oregonstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/champoeg-state-heritage-area/

We will have two aid stations along the course, which you will pass three times on each 10K loop. Typical ultra fare (sweet and salty) will be provided. This race is CUPLESS, so bring a hydration pack, handheld and/or silicone cup for fluids. Absolutely no littering along the course! If you have trash, hold onto it until you reach the aid station.

A covered drop bag area will be at the start/finish area, where you may store extra clothes or your preferred nutrition to pick up at each loop. Portapotties will be at the start/finish area, and an additional potty will be midway along the course.
We will have warm food, drinks and prizes at our finish celebration.

Race Scholarships to Promote Equity in Sport

At our running events, we strive to promote inclusivity for all participants. While it's true that running "only" requires a pair of shoes (plus hours and months of training!), we understand that barriers to entry exist, both financial and cultural. To address this, ORRC volunteers have generously donated race credits to a "Pay it Forward Fund" that we may apply toward race fees. We specifically encourage members of the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities to apply for race entry fee coverage by emailing the race directors. We want to emphasize that everyone is welcome at our races, and we're here to answer any questions.

Gender, Inclusion and Fair Sport Policy

Goal: To create a fair, inclusive and affirming space for people of all genders, identities and experiences to participate in athletic events, while also promoting fairness in award competitions.

During registration, all entrants can select a gender division for the race – men (open), women, or nonbinary. Each gender division will have its own results, podium and awards. To be eligible for prizes, participants register in the gender division in which they qualify at the time of race registration. For the purposes of this community-based (non-elite) race:

    - Transgender women who have undergone continuous, medically-supervised gender-affirming hormone treatment (testosterone suppression) for at least one year before the race are welcome to compete in the women's division; and may compete in the nonbinary division without regard to hormone treatment.

    - Athletes who have begun gender-affirming treatment that includes testosterone or androgens supplementation may compete in either the men's (open) or nonbinary divisions.

Policy Enforcement: The gender and category that a runner selects during registration will be accepted as is. As such, no harassment of individuals, nor challenges to a runner's gender or division, will be allowed or tolerated.

This policy will be updated as needed to ensure fair and inclusive practices.

    Refund Policy & Deferrals

    Pregnancy & Lactation Deferral

If you register for the race and become pregnant or just had a baby, and you do not feel you are in a position to participate, we are happy to defer your entry to the following year. Please inform us before October 10th, 2025 if you wish to defer. Please contact us if you need additional support or accommodations for lactation at the race.

Otherwise, ORRC does not provide refunds or transfers if you cannot run on race day. Please know that your race fee is going to a nonprofit that helps further the sport of running in our community. If you wish to run a shorter distance, you may transfer your registration on UltraSignUp directly.
