Hike for Hope - Suicide Prevention Network

Virtual, United States Variable Distance

This Event Took Place Mon. Oct 25, 2021

Hike for Hope Details

Please join us in our efforts to end the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide. During the months of May through September, we encourage you to get outside and walk or hike with friends and family, or on your own! We know that physical activity and spending time outdoors is good for our mental wellness so let’s encourage and empower others to join us in this movement. All monies raised benefit the prevention, education and outreach programs at Suicide Prevention Network .

How to Hike for Hope

Each individual or groups of individuals who walks/hikes will record their miles and has an opportunity to win 1st, 2nd or 3rd place for overall miles hiked. You must record your miles on the Ultra Sign up website. If you do not have a fancy app that tracks your miles, the iphone and android have this feature built in, please see below for details. You may also use pen and paper and the honor system. To be fair, please only record your miles from the specific walks and hikes you do for this event. Please don’t record all the steps you take throughout the day just walking around your house or work.

Kids

This is a family friendly event and children are encouraged to participate! If you choose to log your child's miles, you must register them for the walk. We also encourage you to bring a personalized sign to display in your photos to show the world who you are hiking for! (remember to leave no trace and pack out your garbage!)

How to track your miles with your iphone or Android

Iphone:
Launch the “Health” application icon on your home screen. By default, the Dashboard will appear with the “Steps”, “Walking + Running Distance”, and “Flights Climbed” cards. You can tap the “Day”, “Week”, “Month”, and “Year” cards to see how many steps you’ve taken, how far you’ve walked and run, and how many flights of stairs you’ve climbed, complete with averages.

Android:
Launch the “Fit” app on your Android phone. You’ll have to set up Google Fit, including giving it access to the sensors it needs to monitor your step count. After you’ve done so, open the Google Fit app and swipe around to see how many steps you’ve taken and other fitness details.
