Southern Singletrack Race 2
Race Info
Southern Singletrack is excited to announce that the Widowmaker Ultra and Whiskey Still 5K/10K is back again for 2024! This race is held at Sprewell Bluff Park in Thomaston, Ga which is just 50 miles south of Atlanta. Sprewell Bluff Park is one of the most beautiful and best kept secrets in Georgia. It features the gently flowing Flint River that meanders thru steep Rocky Bluffs. When you see the magnificent views from the bluffs you won't believe you are in South Georgia. Proceeds to benefit Sprewell Bluff Park!
8 Hours Ultra Marathon
Whoever can run the most loops of The Widowmaker Trail from 8:00AM to 4:00PM wins the race! Run as many loops as you can until The Widowmaker has you begging for mercy. This trail is a mostly single track 6-mile loop and has some very steep and technical sections. Although this trail is beautiful most of you will want to quit after just one loop.
Whiskey Still 5k/10k
If running for 8 hours scares you then you can choose the 5k or 10k options. The 5k is just as beautiful and winds along the Flint River on singletrack trails and runs by an old whiskey still. The 10k follows the same loop at the 8-Hours Ultra. Both the 5k and 10k races will begin at 8:15AM.
Parking
There is plenty of parking at the park. Please be prepared to pay the 5$ parking pass. This is not included in the race fee.
Lodging
There are both cabins and camping available if you want to stay in the park. Please visit their website for details. If you call the park and let them know you are with the race they will give you a 15% discount on lodging! (706) 601-6711

For the 8 hours race, we will have hot food around mid-race to keep you moving – Chefs Mike and Jason will be cooking up the burger sliders and quesadillas again this year so bring your appetite! If you are running the 8 HOURS race, we encourage you to bring any other additional hydration, nourishment, etc. you need to get you through 8 hours of running.
BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE! The 8 HOURS race is a cupless race – we will have someone at the aid station pouring water into your bottle. If you look dehydrated on course, we will pull you. Please don’t be that person and not bring a water bottle!
