The Backyard CRUltra is an annual, student-led, endurance event carried out in a backyard running format. The Backyard CRUltra is held on the campus of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB). In a backyard run participants compete against time, 60 minutes, to complete a 4.167 mile loop. Any time remaining of that hour can be utilized by the runner for recovery. At the top of every hour the race begins again. Runners that have completed the previous loop within the hour timeframe are eligible for the next race loop. This race restart format at the top of the hour continues until only one runner completes the loop. The backyard racing format makes a backyard run distinct, challenging, and an enjoyable experience.
For the Backyard CRUltra at UMHB, participation will be limited to 100 runners. Participants have the opportunity to compete in the Backyard CRUltra event as an individual or team. A team consists of 2 runners (one of the runners on the team must be a current UMHB employee, student, or alumni) with each runner on a team being assigned to complete the ODD or EVEN number loop. This provides each team member the opportunity to run every other loop. If a runner from a team does not finish the loop in one hour, the team is eliminated from participating in the start of the next loop.
The winner of the Backyard CRUltra is the last in their category to complete the 4.167 mile loop, so START FIRST and FINISH LAST.

Event Categories: INDIVIDUAL or TEAM (2 runners - one runner must be connected to the UMHB community as a faculty, staff, student, or alumni)
Entry Fee: $40 / person regardless of event. All participants will register for the Backyard CRUltra. If participating in the team event, you will have the opportunity to identify your partner during the registration process. Event Limit: 100 participants (Those that register by Oct.15th will be guaranteed a race t-shirt.)
Entry Categories
Participation in the Backyard CRUltra can be in one of two categories: * Individual or * Team
For the team category, each team will be made up of 2 people. One member of the team must be a connected to the UMHB community as a faculty, staff, student, or alumni. Each team member will alternate their running of the 4.167 mile loop. If a team member does not complete a loop within the hour, both individuals on the team are DNF (did not finish) and will not be eligible to run the next loop.
Course Information
The course is a trail on the campus of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB). The course is 75% single track and 25% dirt road.
