Welcome to the Timberjack Ultramarathon and trail carnival. This race is graciously approved and permitted within the Deschutes National Forest. Experience the Trail Running Capital of North America! Ponderosa and lodgepole pines line the course as you roll along ancient volcanoes and the Deschutes River valley. Start and finish along the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway in the shadow of the majestic Mount Bachelor.
BACK FOR 2023 - THE CARNIVAL GAMES and the 100k!!!! The Timberjack is sanctioned, insured, and holds all applicable permits. No part of this is half-assed. A portion of the proceeds from this event is donated to the Central Oregon Trail Alliance (COTA) who build and maintain the awesome trail systems here in Bend. https://www.cotamtb.com/
The 100k and 50k feature great views of Mt Bachelor with 6500+ ft and 3200+ ft of elevation gain, respectively. The 50k and the 30k (2000 ft of gain) feature a single-loop course starting and finishing at the Wanoga Sno Park and passing the Deschutes River valley. 100k is two laps of the 50k loop.
The course is a championship caliber, romping tear mostly downhill in the first half and mostly uphill in the second half. The middle is rolling to flat. Almost no pavement, and a ton of sweet single track.
CUTOFF will be 12:00 Midnight (17 hours, approx. 16:25 per mile) at the finish for the 100k. The 100k will also have a cutoff at the half-way point in Wanoga Sno Park at 3:30PM. No runners will be allowed to leave the parking lot after this time.
Registration will remain open until October 12th, 2023.

Dawn is at 6:42am (sunrise 7:11am). Weather in Central Oregon in early October is normally dry, sunny, and excellent for ultra running. Cold mornings and evenings, and very predictable. Expect highs around 60 and lows around 30. However because the course ranges between 4000ft and 6000ft you should expect a chance of cold and/or precipitation. The event is highly unlikely to be affected by weather.
Local time: 1:36 PM
If a weather system does roll in, weather breaks over the mountains west of Bend so precipitation is more likely on the west end of the course while it's most likely to be dry on the east end. Be prepared for wind but it's not a particular concern thanks to mountain and tree cover along the course.
The RD reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule the event if weather threatens the safety of runners or volunteers, or if the trails may be significantly damaged by weather + foot traffic. All reasonable efforts will be made to avoid this scenario, but in the VERY unlikely event of a cancellation, deferrals and partial refunds will be arranged.
