Join us for the 15th Anniversary CROWBAR!
CROWBAR* is a backcountry ski mountaineering (SkiMo) race that is held entirely outside of ski area boundaries near the summit of Logan Canyon, Utah. Started by a group of pioneering backcountry skiers in 2008, before SkiMo was really even a thing, we continue the tradition in 2023. This year's race will have Race, Recreational, and Junior (under 18) divisions. NEW for 2023, in honor of our roots we'll have a Pinner Category for skiers on 75mm tele bindings! (Non-free pivot bindings, register for the Rec course, you knuckledraggers. Frame-style Rando bindings also allowed). We'll have other throwback events and swag, stay tuned!
The Course: Big climbs and fun descents on ridges, forested slopes, and open glades, while avoiding avalanche terrain and providing spectacular views of the Bear River Range and Bear Lake!
The race will be held at the Swan Flat TH/Garden City venue.
More information and rules can be found at the race website here
Photos from last year can be found & purchased here
The combined ski/binding weight cutoff for the Elite Race/Heavy Metal division is 1,450g (51 oz) per ski. If your setup is below this weight, then you are required to register for the Race division.
Race divisions will need a Via Ferrata kit (improvised kit is allowed: Harness, 2 carabiners and a ~36" runner tied to the belay loop)
