RACE #1: YETI-SPAGHETTI
The race will take place at 2:00pm on January 13th, in SODA SPRINGS, IDAHO! Rest assured that the camaraderie you find and the beauty of the forested trail will make the trip well-worth it.
RACE COURSE: After a brief pre-race meeting at 1:45pm in Race Director 'Coach Smith's' garage, runners will assemble in the driveway, beginning their 'mountain 10k' on a steep dirt-road incline for 1 mile, before turning onto a well-used jeep trail taking you through a snowy forested wonderland. After a 3.5-mile wooded loop, runners return to the dirt road, running one final fast mile before completed their journey back where they began! There are several 'trail intersections' that will be well marked for the runners
DISTANCES: One distance will be offered: 5.5 miles, aka, a 'mountain 10k'. The elevation of the course is a stout 1,200+ feet!! Click HERE for the CalTopo course link.
TRANSPORTATION
START/FINISH LINE DIRECTIONS: The actual start/finish of the race will be at 2781 Bailey Creek Rd in Soda Springs. Putting in the address to google maps will not get you to the location. Here is the exact spot and also please follow the directions below.
Here is the google maps location: CLICK HERE FOR DIRECTIONS
Driving Directions: From Idaho Falls or Pocatello, drive South on I-15 to the McCammon Exit with a big Flying J Truck Stop (follow signs directing you to Lava Hot Springs). Head East on Hwy 34, pass by Lava Springs, and enter the tiny hamlet of Soda Springs. At the 2nd traffic light in town, take a RIGHT and head about 5 miles up toward BAILEY CREEK. Pass under the BAILEY CREEK ARCH and take your next RIGHT... There will be a clubhouse/tennis courts on your left. If the roads are questionable, please park any non 4WD vehicles at the Tennis Courts, and arrange for someone to carpool with you for the last 0.7 miles to the start. There is very limited parking and depending on recent storms, 4WD will be necessary to get up the hill. PLEASE CARPOOL IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, AS SPACES ARE LIMITED!! Overflow parking is about 50 yards uphill from the race-start, on CRANE DRIVE. Remember to always park facing 'downhill only' following the flow of traffic.

SPECIAL RACE-DAY WARNINGS:
Weather: IT IS LIKELY GONNA BE COLD!! The race starts above 6000 feet, and January temperatures here can be frigid. Prepare accordingly: Facemasks are not optional! Multiple clothing layers will be needed to keep you safe.
CUT-OFF TIME: We will close up shop three hours after the start (5:00pm). Runners finishing after that time will not have their time recorded. This should allow runners of many abilities to run the race. Please be reasonable with your 'pacing' expectations: This will be far more challenging than a normal 10k run!
