Wood Splitter Solstice

Welcome to the Wood Splitter Solstice Series! On 6/18/2022, put your body, mind, and spirit to the test, and run as many 1.5 mile loops as possible, from Sunrise to Sunset (or 4 Hours or virtually). Take on the challenge, and welcome in the Summer season in Ohio.
The event will loop the 42 acre “Last Straw” farm in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and along the way, you will experience wooded trails and a farm that provides one of the best landscape views in Central Ohio.
As the course is designed it will be a loop that will be run as many times as possible, from sunrise to sunset (or 4 hrs). With that, you can choose to run half the day or the entire day, depending on your personal goals.
For the top runners there will be overall prizes for the top 3 men and women.
Fundraise: The event will be raising funds for the For Those Who Would non-profit organization. If you are looking for an event to put your fundraising skills into action, this would be a great one!
This race is put on and supported by you the athletes. Just you the trail and the community of free running spirits. Whether it is your first attempt at 3 miles, 31 miles, or you just love running in circles for hours on end, this event is designed to give you the environment to push your self and your personal boundaries.

What is the Wood Splitter Solstice Series?
The Wood Splitter Solstice events are a timed Ultra Endurance events, that will have participants running a 1.5 mile looped course from sunrise to sunset.
What is the distance of the race?
The distance per loop will be 1.5 mile. The distance of the race will depend on how many loops can be completed by the end of the timed event.
How long is the race?
Both Full Solstice events are timed events and will start at sunrise and end at sunset.
Summer Solstice Race (6/18/2022) - 15 Hours (6:00 AM - 9:00 PM) : 4 Hours (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

Can I do just one of the races?
Can I do both Winter and Summer races?
Can I have pacers?
Pacers will be permitted for the full 15 hour (Summer) and 9 Hour (Winter) event. All pacers must be registered on the day of the race. Pacing begins at noon.

Solstice Ultra Finishers (Finishers of on-site or virtual events, running 50K or further) - Ultra Buckle
Individual races will have top male and female awards.
What do I need to bring vs. what is supplied?
As a runner, you should come prepared for most of your day. There will be 1 aid station at the Start/Finish line with the normal Ultra Fare. (Chips, Pop, Cookies, Pretzels, Pickles, etc.
Water will also be supplied.
Can I bring a tent, or something else for shelter and privacy?
Can I camp overnight?
Overnight tent/car camping on BOTH Friday night (before the event), and Saturday night (post event) will be available for the Summer event. The tent/car camping will be $10 cash (per registered athlete) upon arrival, and the funds will go directly to the property owner for allowing us to camp overnight. There will be no power available, and no fuel powered generators allowed (Solar are fine). There will be access to water and porta johns. (Additional timing details of arrival will be in athlete packets, closer to the event).
