WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR 100 MILE DISTANCE PERMIT. IF ANY UPDATES WILL NOTIFY BY SEPTEMBER 1, 2022.
The name Dunes is inspired by the beautiful imperial eco-system, "The Scrubs" with its endless rolling white sugar sand. This course will take you on a journey from Pine Flatwoods to the scrubs where you will go face to face with the infamous “Dunes of Heaven” and Dunes of Hell”.
The first 5 miles you will go through pine flat woods with hard-packed dirt some roots and sand. You will cross two wooden bridges – Kitching Creek South and North, followed by two miles through wetland prairie with another bridge crossing and you arrive into the "Scrubs" imperial eco-system.
Here, you will tackle seven miles through white sand dunes that will make you feel like you are going backward while rolling up and down the relentless Dunes of Heaven for the 13.1 & 50k and Dunes of Hell for 50K only.
For as much as the course tortures you, we promise to be nice to you at the finish line. We love to cater our runners with fresh cold organic coconut waiting for you, or if you prefer some stronger hydration we have some craft beer and burgers firing on the grill and other refreshments, for a complete recovery party.

HYDRATION (VERY IMPORTANT)
This is a cupless/bottleless event, we’re trying our best to be litter-free and generate as little impact on the park as we can, so we count on you to bring your own hydration bottles or vest. You will be provided a reusable cup from Hammer Nutrition to take with you to be used at the aid station.

Cut-off for 13.1 4 hours
1. NO LITTER – LEAVE NO TRACE OF AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION AND BANNED FROM ANY DTR RACE.
The course must be in better shape than what we found it. We had a team clean up the trails prior to the race to make sure you are running in clean trails. Littering is absolutely against our principle and will not be tolerated.
2. BE KIND to volunteers and other participants on the course. Volunteers are up for hours and are there to help you on your mission. Please show them you’re grateful.
3. STAY ON COURSE: If you get off course you must return on your own to the place where you got off and start over. I wish we didn’t have to add this to the rules as cheating is the worst thing someone can do, but if a race marshal catches a person (cheating) you will be banned from any future race that DTR hosts for life. Remember the real prize is the achievement and the bonus is a shiny buckle.
4. BIB – Must be worn in a visible location at all times.
5. Have a good time! Remember that is the reason why we do this, right!?!?
IF YOU WITHDRAW FROM THE RACE:
As much as this will be the last thing we want, however, if you do decide to withdraw, please notify the nearest Aid Station/Checkpoint so we know you are no longer in the race and are accounted for. If you don’t notify a race official that you left the course, you will be responsible for all emergency search and rescue. All Emergency Evacuation costs for participants or crews will be borne by that person or their heirs. The race organizers are in no way liable or responsible for emergency evacuation.
NO PACERS OR ASSISTANCE are not allowed on the course.
LEAVE NO TRACE (unlike road races we do not permit you throw anything on the floor) please throw your trash in aid station area only. If a race official catches you throwing garbage in other zones this will give you an automatic DNF.
LAST RULE: HAVE FUN RUNNING THE TRAILS OF JDSP.
