Overview

The UpRiver Running Fall Races hold a special place in our heart. This community event celebrates our love for the sport and unites participants from all walks of life with varying goals and experiences. The 10Km, 25Km, and 50Km distances offer something for everyone. For 2024, we're excited to also add a Kids Trail Race of about 2.5Km, as well as changing the start location to Kinsmen Park (Trowbridge). This year, we'll also be providing a free vegetarian chili for all registered participants! Most of the course takes place on single track through some of our favourite trails in Thunder Bay.

Participants will receive a finisher medal and the first finisher from each age division (39 & under, 40+ Masters and 50+ Grand Masters) in the 10K, 25K & 50K events will receive an award.

Long story short

- The 2024 Fall Races all start from Kinsmen Park (Trowbridge)
- Free Kasper Transportation Shuttle to and from the race (Current River Community Centre: 450 Dewe Ave, Thunder Bay)
- Race Entries are non-refundable
- Participants can change their distance prior to registration close: No refunds issued for moving to a shorter distance, but the balance will be charged when moving up to a longer distance
- Optional T-shirt available for $30 extra under ultrasignup "STORE" tab--order by September 19th
- This will be a cupless event, please bring a reusable cup/water bottle/hydration bladder
- Water station will be available on course between aid stations
- The 50K event will have a 9hr cutoff (4pm) with, along with cutoff times at the following stations:

11:30am cutoff @ Kinsmen Park - 1/2 way point (25Km)
12:40pm cutoff @ Balsam Access Trail Head (approx. 31.2 Km)
1:50pm cutoff @ Cascades Conservation Area (approx. 38.2 Km)
4pm cutoff @ Kinsmen Park (FINISH)

- Race bibs are transferable until the registration deadline (Thursday, September 19th,11:59pm)
- 17 and under participants can register in any distance for $40.
- Early bird pricing is valid until July 26th
- Capacity for each race: 50Km = 75 participants; 25Km = 150 participants; 10Km = 300 participants

The race start times are as follows:
50Km - 7:00am
25Km - 9:30am
10Km - 11:30am
- Kids Trail Run (2.5Km) - 10:45am
*Start times are subject to change, based on possible changes to health guideline restrictions.

Refund Policy

Should the event be cancelled after the payments have been processed, participants will be given the option to roll over 50% credit of their race entry to 2025 or receive a 50% refund on the race entry.
To access the optional t-shirt purchase, you must have registered by September 19th. If the race is cancelled after this date, participants will still receive their paid shirt.

Course Info

NEW for 2024. All races will begin and finish Kinsmen Park off of Trowbridge Rd.(close the bike jumps).

The 10K event will be a single loop course that heads from Kinsmen Park into Shuniah Mines and back.

The new course for the 25K will be 1 loop (with 2 short sections of out-and-back) of mostly single-track with some double track. It will take runners through the Shuniah mines trails, Cascades Conservation Area, Centennial park and some on Trowbridge Park trails.

The 25K Course will have about 370m / 1200ft of climbing.

The 50K runners will complete two 25K loops.

There will be two on-course aid stations for the 25Km runners, which means the 50Km runners will have a total of 5 aid stations.
1) Balsam Access Trail Head (approx. 7.3 Km)
2) Cascades Conservation Area (approx. 14.3 Km)
3) Kinsmen Park - 1/2 way point (25Km)
4) Balsam Access Trail Head (approx. 31.2 Km)
5) Cascades Conservation Area (approx. 38.2 Km)

The 2.5Km Kids Trail Run will include the Prospector Skills Trail, and a shorter loop run on the Yellow Trail and Red Trail.

50Km Aid Stations

The 50Km course will follow the same route as the 25Km course, but will be completed twice. Do not let the elevation fool you. This is a technical course with plenty of rolling terrain.

Runners will have access to a total of 5 aid stations:

2) Cascades Conservation Area (approx. 14.3 Km)
