Event Description
Welcome poor soul to the 10th Annual Hell Hole Hundred!
All participants will have a place to camp Thursday night through Sunday morning. You will have access to restroom facilities, but there are no shower facilities.
The event schedule is as follows (ALL distances are eventually supported):
212 mile race starts on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 8AM
140.6 mile race and the 100k NIGHT race starts on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 6PM
100 Mile, 100K, 50 mile, 50k and 16 mile events start on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 7AM
16 mile and 50K NIGHT RACE starts Saturday, June 3, 2022 at 6PM
212 and 140.6 mile participants are required to have at least 1 person for the the duration of the event. If 2 individuals want to sign up together and run the entire race together, they can share the same crew for the duration of the event…or until they quit.
212 participants will be required to wear a SPOT Gen 3 GPS Tracker at a cost of $40.00. This will be provided to you prior to the event. This piece of gear is required to be on you and on...at all times. It must be visible and not covered up. I am tracking each participant to ensure you are on course and not lost due to the very real possibility that you will hallucinate at some point during the event. Also, if you run into trouble, you can contact me with preset messages to let me know you are just not right and need some assistance. Your crew can also help you out during the event by meeting you along the course. This is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED!!! They can provide you with food and water while you are out on the course.
All runners are required to check in at the main aid station, Irishtown Road and Yellow Jacket Road aid
Time Frame, Awards and Stuff
78 hours to complete 212 miles (must hit 6 loops, 108 miles in 34 hours to continue).
43 hours to complete 140.6 miles.
100 miles in 30 hours.
100k day and night race in 20 hours
50 miles in 14 hours
50k in 10 (both day and night events)
16 miles in 5 hours (both day and night events)
If you complete your event within the time frame given, you are considered and “official” finisher and will be awarded your time and Finisher Coin. If you are running any distance over 100 miles (including the 100 miler), you will be awarded the Finishers Coin along with a buckle if you complete the event in the given time frame. Buckles are custom made with your name and finisher time on them.
Stuff: Do not get caught littering on the trail. If you do…you are automatically DISQUALIFIED from the event… Period.
If you decide to drop, you will be awarded a DNF (Did Not Finish), hand over your BIB number and RING THE CHICKEN BELL. The chicken bell is nothing more than a bell with a chicken standing on the top of it. I am not implying that you are a chicken…
Do not argue with event staff! If they feel that you are unable to finish the event due to your mental/physical condition or your average lap time, you will have your bib removed and you will be pulled from the course. IF you choose to continue, you will be banned from ALL Eagle Endurance, LLC events.
Aid Stations
• Start/Finish Line – Fully stocked and supported with bathrooms
• Irishtown Road Trail Crossing – Fully stocked and supported with bathrooms
• Yellow Jacket Road at Thomas Road – Fully stocked and supported with bathrooms
The Trail and Use of the FMNF
All events take place within the Francis Marion National Forest located outside Charleston, South Carolina.
The trail we run on is called the Jericho Horse Trail, there are two courses, a 16 mile loop and an 18 mile loop. Depending on your event…it will dictate what course or combination of courses you will run. Both courses consisting of dirt fire roads, single track trail. It is a flat trail that is unforgiving.
Cancellation Policy
The only reason I will cancel this event is if the forest is on fire, there is a hurricane and zombies are out on the trail. If for any reason the event has to be shut down due to extreme weather, natural disaster or zombies on the course (other than the runners…), you will be pulled from the course or held at an aid station until you can be removed from the course. Please, no arguing if this should happen. It is for your own safety. For the record, in past years, the runners have spotted or heard alligators, feral pigs, coyotes, rather large spiders, owls, bald eagles, plenty of snakes and big ass mosquitoes and a couple of horseflies.
Packet Pickup
All packet pickups happen at the Start and Finish Line at the Jericho Horse trail.
Thursday from 7:00 AM - 7:30AM I will have packet pickup for the 212 runners
Friday from 5-5:30PM for the 100k Night Run and 140.6 mile runners.
Morning of the event from 6-6:30AM for all day time runners.
16.3 and 50k night runners check in Saturday night at 5-5:30PM
Refunds
No refunds are issued. If you are unable to attend the event, I am more than willing to offer credit towards next years event or credit you the entry fee towards another one of my races.
