This race is all about self-reliance. Set up your own base camp and let your creativity shine by decorating your campsite with festive flair. Multiple out-and-back trails await you, ranging from a 3-mile route to the longest distance of 18.9 miles. Before venturing onto the trails, make sure to check in at the timing table at base camp. Select your desired trail, embark on your chosen adventure, and reach the checkpoint at the end of the trail to stamp your quest log. The top ten finishers will also collect a ping pong ball, while those in the 11-20 position will return a crystal. Regardless of your position, always check in with the staff at HQ upon returning to camp for safety and tracking purposes.

Earn Points, Conquer Side Quests

The SISU 24 PNW is all about rewarding your route choices and accomplishments. As you embark on this epic adventure, there are multiple ways to earn points and conquer exciting challenges.

Main Quests:

The main quests in the SISU 24 PNW involve completing each of the six marked trail routes. Your task is to run the route, collect the stamp along the way, and return to HQ. Each main quest has a designated point value that changes based on the number of participants who have completed that route. The earlier you complete a trail, the more points you earn. It's a strategic race against the clock!

Side Quests:

In addition to the main quests, there are optional side quests available on each trail. These side quests offer additional challenges and opportunities to earn extra points. They are designed to test your skills, add excitement to your journey, and provide a chance to explore unique experiences along the way.

Additional Side Quests:

Outside of the trail-specific side quests, we also offer separate side quests that are not attached to any particular trail. These side quests include activities like Midnight Yoga under the Stars and the SISU Service Project. Participating in these separate side quests allows you to earn additional points and engage in memorable experiences during the event.

Each side quest is worth a specific number of points, and completing them requires dedicated time and effort. They add an extra layer of adventure and fun to your SISU 24 PNW experience.

So, as you tackle the main quests, be on the lookout for the optional side quests on each trail. Take part in the additional side quests to unlock new challenges and earn more points. By embracing the full range of quests available, you'll maximize your point accumulation and create a truly unforgettable adventure.

Adventure Within Reach

Despite the varying distances, you're never too far from base camp and your essential gear and supplies. Water sources along the trails offer ample opportunities to replenish and purify your drinking water. Be sure to bring an efficient water purification method, especially on hot days. As day turns into night, immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere with lights, movies, crafts, and onesies.

Side Quests – Earn Points and Embrace the Fun

Be prepared for surprises as we keep the quests fresh and exciting each year.

COURSE MAP

  • The Course Map provides a general overview of the trails used for the event.

  • The course will be marked with colored ribbons (where possible) and laminated signs (when necessary).

  • Please do not move or disturb the markers, as this may pose a danger to other participants.

Important Guidelines:

  • Keep in mind that some of these trails will take you far from the campground, and once you're out there, you must complete the entire distance. There are no shortcuts, and any form of cheating will result in a DNF (Did Not Finish) designation.

Stamping and Check-In/Out:

  • At the furthest point of each trail, you will find a rubber stamp.

  • To prove that you have completed the run, use your ink pad and quest log to make an imprint of the stamp.

  • Bring the stamped quest log back to HQ, where a staff member or volunteer will initial your stamp and record your points.

  • It is crucial to check in and out before and after each run, allowing us to track your times and know your location on the course. This helps ensure your safety and prevents any possibility of getting lost.

AWARDS

At SISU, we believe in recognizing the achievements of our participants. Every participant receives a custom wood round medal, which can be engraved with your name to commemorate your accomplishment. In addition, we honor the top three male and female participants, as well as the top three teams. For those who conquer the challenging 100-Mile race, a custom buckle awaits as a symbol of their incredible feat. We also present the SISU Spirit Award to the individual who exemplifies good sportsmanship, and encompasses the true spirit of SISU, this will be voted on by the racers. Lastly, the SISU Miles award celebrates the individual who earns the most miles during the 24-hour period, a testament to their endurance and determination.

In our commitment to inclusivity, we recognize the importance of providing a space where everyone feels seen and respected. This year, participants will have the option to select the non-binary category during registration, embracing the diversity of our running community.

While we believe in fostering inclusivity, we also want to approach awards in a thoughtful and considerate manner. At this time, we have decided not to offer separate awards in the non-binary category, unless we have a minimum of five non-binary participants. Our intention is to create an inclusive environment where all participants can enjoy the race experience without feeling pressure or exclusion. We value feedback from our community as we navigate these important discussions and work towards a more inclusive future.

We are dedicated to listening, learning, and evolving as we strive to create a race that celebrates the diversity of our participants. Your support and input are crucial in our journey towards an inclusive and respectful SISU 24 PNW race. Together, let's continue to build a community where everyone feels welcome and valued.
