Course Description
The Bent Sprockets 50/50 courses will take riders through a variety of terrain and provide a fun tour of the west side of the Black Hills.
The 40 mile: this course will include challenging climbs as well as some cruising downhills. It will be a combination of gravel and pavement and views to equal the challenge. The shorter distance will avoid some of the potentially more challenging sections of the 100-mile course while still offering a fun and challenging course. Also, the cutoff is still 6 pm, providing riders with plenty of time to complete the course and enjoy a day on their bike!
100 mile: This course tours the wide range of environments making up our region. From the prairie to the canyons, pavement to gravel to two-track, this will be a ride to remember. Take a challenging tour of the west side of the Black Hills filled with beautiful views and challenging climbs, with over 7,000 ft of climbing! Similar to other comparable races in the region this race is for experienced riders who can average at least a 10 mph pace.
Support Crew
Every rider is required to have a support crew. If a rider DNF's, they need to reach out to their crew to pick them up. Check the race website for locations to find cell service to make a call.
For the 40-mile course, your support crew can meet you at the Flying V Trailhead Aid Station. Receiving aid of any kind from your crew outside of this aid station will result in a DNF. For the 100-mile course, your support crew can meet you at the Four Corners checkpoint, Aid Station #2. Receiving aid of any kind from your crew outside of this aid station will result in a DNF.
Navigation
The race courses will be minimally marked. Riders are responsible to navigate the course on their own. A PDF map, GPX, and KML files are provided, along with Cue Sheets.
These races take place on open roads. Take care and follow the rules of the road. Stay on the right side, especially on blind corners and when topping out on hills. These roads are used by trucks, ATVs, and farm equipment. Be careful or you could easily get hit out there.
