Welcome to the Frontier!
"The extreme limit of settled land beyond which lies wilderness..."
Follow in the footsteps of one of the greatest Frontiersmen of all times, as he escaped on foot from the Shawnee Tribe in Ohio.
Running 160 miles in just 4 days, Daniel Boone made his way overland on foot from what is now the Paint Creek State Park area in Ohio, to his home in Fort Boonesborough State Park in Kentucky to warn his family and friends of an imminent Shawnee attack.
The route you'll take is incredibly scenic and full of history:
Because much of the original route is now paved roads, wherever possible, check points have been kept in State Parks or Nature Preserves so as to maximize trail time and reduce road running time.
The Event will start on June 23rd, 2023, which is historically accurate for when Daniel Boone slipped his captors and made his escape to Fort Boonesborough. You'll have the same 4 days that Daniel Boone took to finish the miles.
What is Included?
You get entry to the event, full access to all of the State Parks and Nature Preserves that we traverse for both you and your crew.
A runners pack which includes your swag (including a shirt, bag and some other goodies, both from Frontier Events as well as from sponsors, yet to be determined).
We have a medical team on hand supporting the runners.
6 fully equipped aid stations with a selection of both hot and cold foods plus electrolytes and gels.
We're endeavoring to get two of the aid stations established as sleep stations, but that is yet to be determined.
All runners will receive a leatherbound race "passport" which will have the map and route info contained within it, and this must be stamped / clipped at each aid station enroute.
In addition to this, you'll receive all the necessary GPX files for the course to download.
Upon successfully completing the distance, you'll receive a custom belt buckle (which is REALLY cool, but a surprise as to the design at this stage).
Both first female and first male across the line will win a replica, full sized (non-firing) flintlock Kentucky Rifle mounted on a backing board with the event details engraved on it.
