Direct Donation to the Hardrock Trail Fund
Click this link to make a voluntary direct donation to the Hardrock Trail Fund. Funds will be distributed to local and regional organizations that advocate for responsible and sustainable trail use and outdoor education. The HRH will support programs that these organizations run that enhance safe and responsible wilderness experiences in the San Juan Mountains, including trail maintenance and construction. Disbursements will also be made to local Search and Rescue organizations to help support their operations.

Description
The course alternates each year, and 2027 is a 100 mile counter clockwise loop through the back country of the San Juan Mountains in beautiful southwestern Colorado. The Hardrock Hundred connects or passes near the old mining towns of Silverton, Lake City, Ouray, Telluride and Ophir. With a total elevation gain of approximately 33,000' and an average elevation at near tree line of 11,186', the Hardrock Hundred peaks out at over 14,000’ on Handies Peak, one of Colorado’s 14’ers.
Hardrock Volunteer History & Ticket Verification
Please review your past Hardrock volunteering record carefully before completing your application.
Self-reported entries are audited and verified against official Hardrock records prior to the lottery draw. There may be discrepancies between self-reported ticket claims and official Hardrock records in which case the official Hardrock records are used.
Years Volunteered:
- Select the total number of distinct calendar years in which you performed at least 8 hours of qualifying volunteer work (e.g., aid station shifts, course marking, trail work, setup/breakdown). Note: Pacing, crewing, or short drop-ins do not qualify as a volunteer year.
Description of Hardrock Volunteering:- Please list specific years and specific roles/locations worked to help us quickly verify your service in our archives.
- e.g., 2021: Telluride Aid Station (10 hrs); 2023: Registration & Course Marking (12 hrs)
Service Ticket Self-Reporting:- Service tickets do not equal total years served. They accrue in tiered blocks (e.g., 3–5 qualifying years = 1 ticket, 6–8 years = 2 tickets). If you are unsure of your exact year count, refer to your entry in 'Years Volunteered' above before selecting your bracket.
- Please estimate the number of service tickets you believe you have earned toward the Hardrock lottery.
Service tickets are not given on a “1 year = 1 ticket” basis. Instead, they accumulate in blocks of years: - 3–5 years of qualifying volunteer service = 1 ticket>
- 6–8 years = 2 tickets
- 9–11 years = 3 tickets, and so on.
If you are unsure of your exact year count, refer to your entry in 'Years Volunteered' above before selecting your bracket.
A qualifying volunteer year generally means
at least 8 hours of meaningful work (e.g. working an aid station, trail work, course marking).
Short tasks (like a quick unload and leave) don’t count as a full volunteer year.
