Join us for the Dana Peak Trail Run. The race is held at Dana Peak Park, located on the north shore of Stillhouse Hollow lake in Harker Heights Texas, approximately one hour from both Waco and Austin, Texas.
The trails ascend and descend the rocky terrain that hugs Stillhouse Hollow lake. While most of the trail system is in the trees there are some areas that are exposed. Throughout the race runners will climb several of the peaks along the shore catching incredible views of the lake during their journey along the course.
Each distance follows a single loop with limited repeat trails throughout your race! Elevation gain for the 50K is 3,354.
IMPORTANT: All runners must cary a hydration device (i.e. Water Bottle or Hydration Bladder) to participate in the race. 100K/50K runners need to make sure they can carry enough water to last on the longest segment between aid stations (7 miles).
The information on the registration page only provides a basic overview of the event. Please check our website at: http://blazetrails.com/dana-peak for the latest information.
The park is closed for the season, but they allow us to open to our runners and volunteers. Entry is $5/car, and we recommend people carpool.
Camping will also be allowed this year, and we will communicate details with our registered runners and volunteers. This is primitive camping only without access to water or electricity. All campers must arrive by 8 p.m. on Friday and can camp by RV, tent or car.
Anyone running the 20K or 10K can choose to Ruck the race. At this time, we do not have it as a separate division. However, if we find a good number of people registering and planning to do it as a Ruck, we will add it as a separate division.
This is a first-year try and we would love to grow this!
Our races depend on amazing volunteers. When you volunteer, you earn race credits for future Blaze Trails races. Or, ask a family member to volunteer while you run and their race credits can transfer to you!
