A Summary of this Amazing Event!

Maybe you could tell by the name. But this isn't just an ultra-race, it's a race to save lives! Two amazing nonprofits, YMCA Camp Harrison + Hydrating Humanity, have teamed together to put on the event of the year - ALL FOR THE GOOD OF OTHERS!

We believe everyone can leverage their unique talents for a greater cause! That’s why we’re inspiring ultra athletes (and anyone else ready to push beyond their own “impossible”) to run for a cause greater than themselves. If we become the “go-to” cause for ultra athletes, we’ll grow into the largest ultra race for clean water in the world!

That’s what it’s going to take to realize our bold vision: eradicating the waterborne disease crisis and transforming the poorest areas of the world. As the African proverb goes: 'if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.'

*So thankful to Camp Harrison for hosting us on their beautiful land, and for James Broyhill and the whole Broyhill family who are sponsoring the event!

Course Description

We've expanded the course greatly! Located between Lenoir and North Wilkesboro in North Carolina, YMCA Camp Harrison at Herring Ridge is nestled in the lush, serene mountains of North Carolina. The race this year is a very challenging 13 Mile loop through the outer-skirts of the beautiful camp property, at times running along the top ridges of the surrounding mountains, and then finishing off around beautiful Lake Broyhill. The course is 80% single track trail, 20% gravel road and it will be a GREAT CHALLENGE!!! ARE YOU UP FOR IT?

100 Miler: 8 Laps (18,816' ft of total elevation gain) (30 hour cut off)

50 M: 4 Laps (9,408' ft of total elevation gain)

26 M: 2 Laps (5,000'+ ft of total elevation gain)

13 M: 1 Lap (2,352' ft of total elevation gain)(There is no time cutoff for the 50m, 50k, OR 13m)

4 M: 1 Lap around lake--> The typical distance a mom or child has to walk to collect water (dirty) is around 3-4 miles. If you are not a longer distance runner you can still register and join us for a 4 mile run/walk around beautiful Lake Broyhill.

The race will start at the gorgeous Chapel with a huge front lawn that overlooks Lake Broyhill. This will be the location for runners to drop bags, and where family and friends can hang and gather to support the runners and the event and have a great time. Restroom facilities are at both locations. There will be at least 3 aid stations.

Our WHY

We believe everyone can leverage their unique talents for a greater cause! That’s why we’re inspiring ultra athletes (and anyone else ready to push beyond their own “impossible”) to run for a cause greater than themselves. If we become the “go-to” cause for ultra athletes, we’ll grow into the largest ultra race for clean water in the world!

That’s what it’s going to take to realize our bold vision: eradicating the waterborne disease crisis and transforming the poorest areas of the world. As the African proverb goes: 'if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.'

Camping Option

Runners, you and your loved ones have the option to stay and camp on the huge, grassy lawn that sits between the Chapel and the lake. So bring you're camping gear and make a weekend of it!

There are bathrooms available to everyone at the chapel.

Supporting Hydrating Humanity

All proceeds from the race will benefit Hydrating Humanity: Their mission is to help the poorest areas of the world obtain real and lasting transformation at every level. This begins with meeting the fundamental need for clean water, and helping improve their physical, financial and spiritual lives along the way. They believe the most impactful spearhead into these communities is clean, safe water projects and hygiene education.
