OVERALL EVENT DESCRIPTION

The upcoming Lucky Seven Hour Adventure Run is a brand new event coordinated by the Broadway Ultra Society (BUS) to be held on Saturday, April 24 at Forest Park in Queens, NY starting at 8:30 AM. Besides being an “odd” time event, and it also will be conducted in an unusual matter. Each participant will be asked to navigate three different and separate loops through the course of 7 hours. See below descriptions.

The check-in area will be near the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Park Lane South in Richmond Hill, Queens, with the Start & Finish Staging area a short distance up a park road.

Course Description:

The event will feature three loops: the East loop, the West loop and the Homestretch. The East loop is approx. 1.6-miles in distance and a combination of bridle path (like a carriage road) and .6-mile of a trail. The West loop is 1.4-miles and the surface is completely on a bridle path. The Homestretch is about 1.3-miles and a combination of a blacktop drive and Park perimeter sidewalk. All loops are rolling. After a few hours, they will be considered borderline hilly.

Race Loops:

Half of the field will start on the East loop and the other half on the West loop. After about three hours elapsed, participants on the East loop will go to the West loop. And participants on the West loop will switch to the East loop. The transition will not be as complicated as appears on paper.

Course Hazards:

Despite its topography, the bridle paths and the trail portion are very runnable with good footing. There will be few cases with rocks or roots. On the bridle paths, there will be a number of “flood boards”; easy to step over. And some railway stones in a couple of sections to veer around. Probably the other hazard may be the appearances of some horses.

The Finale:

After about six hours elapsed, participants both from the East and West loops will be transferred to the Homestretch loop. That loop will be paved. It also will be subdivided into 23 numbered “fractions” so each participant can still receive a “partial lap” at the end of the event.

COVID 19:

The event is being held with the cooperation of the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation (Queens Division). Hence, there will be existing COVID regulations and guidelines required by NYC Parks to be followed by every participants. Such requirement would be face covering before the start of the run and at the end, and in certain situations. And social distance will also be required especially at the start of the event. Part of reason of multiple courses of the event was to “spread out” the field. Also, there will be additional waivers to be completed and signed. All steps are in process to provide a safe event.

Entry Procedure:

Please enter early. There will not be late or race day entry.

Event's current local time: 6:19 AM ET
