Description of Course and Event

Ritter Park is a tranquil one hundred acre park complete with a nature conservatory. The path is crushed limestone, six feet wide and for the purpose of this event is one mile in length. The terrain is completely flat, devoid of vehicular traffic and composes of four gentle turns.
There will be chip timing for all participants and events.
There will be first aid station complete with trained personnel for the duration of the event.
There is ample parking inside the one mile course. There is a shelter for food and race headquarters.
Camping is permitted for participants and support staff.

Festivities

Event will start at 7:00 p.m. on October 15th and continue through 7:00 p.m. on October 16th.
Pizza will be provided for all participants at 10:00 p.m. on October 15th.
Pancakes will be provided for all participants at 3:00 a.m. on October 16th.
Breakfast food will be provided for all participants at 9:00 a.m. on October 16th.
Music will be provided from shelter 24/7.

Awards

There will milestone recognition awards for both individual and relay teams for the following distance, 50 mile, 75 mile and 100 miles. Awards for these significant achievements will be announced later.

All 24hour individual and relay team members will receive jackets.
All 12 and 18 hour participants (including relays) will receive hoodies.

There will be individual prizes awarded to the top-two overall individuals in each event and then the top two male/female finishers in each event. There will be only one award per individual.

Awards will be given to the top relay team in each event. Each member of the winning relay team will receive an award.

Individuals, if they choose, can participate individually and on a relay team if they register as such. If the individual wins both individual and relay event they will receive their earned award. Winners of both individual and relay teams will be based on the total number of miles completed in their event.

This event will be chip timed. There will be a timing mat on the course. Participants will be timed as they enter and exit the course.

It is my expectation to host the best event and not necessarily the cheapest event.

Safety of Event Course

Ritter Park is located near downtown Huntington, WV.
The course as illustrated in the pictures has antique street lights on the course and while some areas of the park may be dim in the wee hours of the morning is never completely dark.
The course will be carefully monitored by race officials for any non-race participants. We do not expect this to be a problem but we want to assure our participants of their safety.
There is a major medical facility less than a mile in distance in the event of a medical emergency.
Course is flat and poses no physical challenges other than the distance.
Course is composed of crushed limestone.
Participants will encounter no vehicular traffic on the course other than the two parking lots which intersect the course.
There are permanent restrooms on the course for the participants and support staff.
